We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Stormwater Civil Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of stormwater management systems. This role requires a strong understanding of hydrology, environmental regulations, and civil engineering principles. The Stormwater Civil Engineer will work on a variety of projects, including stormwater drainage systems, flood control structures, and water quality improvement initiatives. Experience working with rehabilitation/retrofit stormwater design is highly desired.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design stormwater management systems, including drainage systems, detention/retention ponds, culverts, and flood control structures.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling to analyze stormwater runoff and develop solutions to manage flow and reduce flooding risks.
- Develop grading and drainage plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP).
- Manage and oversee multiple stormwater projects from throughout various phases of design through construction, ensuring compliance with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Prepare project proposals, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
- Ensure all stormwater projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including the Clean Water Act and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits.
- Assist in the preparation of permit applications and environmental impact assessments.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and environmental regulations.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental scientists, geotechnical engineers, and urban planners, to integrate stormwater management into broader civil engineering projects.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders through presentations, reports, and meetings.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings with Sr. Project Managers to discuss project status’ and/or get direction on project scopes.
- Communicate with Homeowners and other relevant parties regarding progress of projects, gaining access to properties, and relaying pertinent information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in stormwater management, civil engineering, or related field.
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software such as ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, StormCAD, FlowMaster, Hy8, CulvertMaster, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of stormwater regulations and best management practices (BMPs).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
