State Business Tax Content Developer / Functional Support Specialist

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled State Business Tax Compliance Content Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in ensuring that our tax software solution meets the highest standards of accuracy, efficiency, and user satisfaction. You will be responsible for implementing annual updates to state-specific tax forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislative changes and providing functional support during filing season. Your work will involve close collaboration with tax experts, analysts, and other developers to interpret state tax codes, integrate them into software updates, and test for functionality and correctness. The ideal candidate will have experience in state tax compliance, eFiling for separate, consolidated corporate and partnership returns. The position involves two main components: annual tax forms delivery end-user support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Annual Tax Forms Delivery:
- Analyze state tax regulatory changes and translate them into software requirements.
- Update and maintain state-specific tax workpapers, forms and calculations.
- Conduct thorough testing of system functionalities to confirm compliance with state tax regulations and requirements.
- Continuously monitor and implement changes in state tax laws and regulations to ensure software updates reflect current compliance standards.
- Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) for new software releases and system updates.
- Provide guidance and assistance to offshore resources to support the annual update process.
- End User Support:
- Provide functional support to users encountering issues with state tax compliance software for corporate and partnership filings.
- Investigate and resolve tax-related system issues related to separate and consolidated e-filings.
- Act as a liaison between users and technical teams to address and resolve complex tax-related inquiries.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on state corporate tax compliance and partnership tax returns.
- Collaborate with development teams to provide functional specifications and validate fixes.
Qualifications & Required Skills:
- 2+ years of experience in corporate tax compliance, tax software support, or tax technology.
- Familiarity with state tax regulations and e-filing requirements for separate, consolidated and partnership returns.
- Experience with corporate and partnership tax filings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot software or tax-related issues.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written for explaining tax and software concepts to users.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with tax software platforms such as ONESOURCE, GoSystem Tax, or similar.
- Knowledge of XML, IRS/state e-filing schemas, or tax technology integrations.
- Prior experience in user acceptance testing (UAT) and / or software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- CPA, EA, or CMI certification (or progress towards certification) is a plus.
