About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Technical Product Manager – Performance Modeling to lead a sophisticated PV performance modeling and simulation platform used to evaluate energy yield, system performance, and scenario-based outcomes for utility-scale solar projects. This role requires deep understanding of PV system behavior and performance modeling, combined with strong product leadership and technical execution skills.
You will work closely with software engineering, data science, and PV subject matter experts to deliver a trusted, high-impact platform that supports internal teams and external customers in making critical design, commercial, and operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Technical Ownership
Own the product vision and roadmap for a PV performance modeling and simulation platform
Define product strategy across use cases such as energy yield estimation, loss modeling, scenario analysis and comparisons
Ensure modeling accuracy, transparency, and traceability while balancing usability and performance
Drive roadmap decisions based on technical feasibility, modeling fidelity, and business impact
PV Modeling & Technical Leadership
Partner with PV engineers on energy yield and performance modeling methodologies, loss trees, tracker behavior, system configurations, and design assumptions
Translate PV modeling concepts into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
Make informed tradeoffs between model complexity, runtime performance, and user experience
Execution & Delivery
Lead agile execution including backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and release management
Work closely with engineering to deliver scalable, maintainable, and well-documented features
Own end-to-end delivery of modeling enhancements, new inputs, outputs, and workflows
Ensure robust validation, testing, and versioning of models and assumptions
Stakeholder & Customer Collaboration
Engage directly with internal stakeholders such as sales, engineering, operations, and leadership
Gather feedback from users on model accuracy, usability, and outputs
Support customer-facing teams with technical explanations of modeling results and assumptions
Communicate complex PV and modeling concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in Product Management, Technical Product Management, Engineering, or related fields.
Education: MS or higher preferred. A BS is acceptable with additional relevant industry experience.
Strong understanding of PV systems and PV performance modeling, including energy yield estimation and loss analysis
Hands-on experience working with:
PV performance or simulation tools (internal or commercial)
PV system configurations, tracker behavior, and design parameters
Proven ability to work deeply with engineering teams on complex, algorithm-driven products
Experience writing detailed technical product requirements and specifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to modeling accuracy and detail
Experience working in agile development environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud-based platforms, APIs, or scalable analytics systems
Familiarity with validation of models against measured or operational data

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The annual salary range for this position is $200,000 to $230,000.
