Overview:

SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help us build the next generation of proactive services that help homeowners reduce risk and protect their most valuable asset — their home.
In this role, you’ll help expand and enhance our API suite of products, connecting customers with trusted professionals, smart devices, and home services like roof repairs, resealing, and safety devices. You’ll join the Policy Clearance team, which is dedicated to creating service-oriented solutions that unlock impactful application experiences for both our customers and business partners.
What you’d be doing:
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to craft innovative capabilities in our API products, enabling the building blocks of new customer experiences.
- Design and implement modern Java services that connect our platform to integration partners, powering dynamic, user-friendly experiences.
- Make high-level technical and architectural decisions to ensure our solutions are secure, reliable, and scalable as we grow.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and design discussions to foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Expand and evolve our integration strategy, connecting third-party contractor networks, service providers, and our internal underwriting systems.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of experience building and deploying software applications.
- Strong experience with Java and modern Java tooling for backend development.
- A proven track record of designing scalable, secure APIs and integration solutions.
- Experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
- A proactive, curious mindset with a passion for building technology that makes a tangible difference.
Highly preferred candidates also have:
- Experience working in Insurtech or Fintech environments.
- Experience with Temporal workflow orchestration
