Build AI development infrastructure and tooling—context engineering, AI harnesses, workflow automation, and CI/CD integrations—to operationalize AI coding tools and increase engineering velocity at scale.
As a Staff Software Engineer within Servicing Digital, you'll build the tools and infrastructure that make every engineer in the vertical faster, sharper, and more capable. Servicing Digital owns the client-facing servicing experiences for millions of Rocket homeowners - and as we accelerate through a full-scale System of Record modernization, engineering velocity is a strategic asset.
The AI Workflows & Builder role exists at the frontier of that mission. You'll design and build the autonomous AI-development infrastructure - the harnesses, scaffolding, context engineering systems, and workflow automation - that turn AI coding tools from experiments into reliable, production-grade accelerants. This is the factory initiative: building the AI-Factories that multiply what Servicing & Rocket Technology can build and ship autonomously 24/7.
This is a hands-on builder role. If you believe the next frontier of software delivery isn't faster engineers - it's autonomous systems that compress months of work into days, and days into hours - and you want to be the person who builds that reality at Rocket scale, this role was made for you.
Staff Software Engineers are senior individual contributors who drive meaningful, cross-team technical impact through deep technical execution and hands-on leadership. Staff Engineers are the most effective builders on the team: they tackle the hardest implementation problems, establish patterns through working code, and raise the technical floor for engineers around them. In the AI Workflows & Builder role, this means designing and delivering the context engineering infrastructure, AI harness frameworks, and developer automation that enable Servicing Digital's engineering teams to work at a new level of velocity. You are the person who makes autonomous AI-development actually work at scale - not as a demo, but as a repeatable, reliable part of how we ship software.

About the role
- Design and build AI harness and scaffolding systems that operationalize AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and others) across Servicing Digital's engineering workflows.
- Architect and implement context engineering infrastructure - prompt systems, context retrieval patterns, knowledge packaging, and evaluation frameworks that make AI tools accurate and trustworthy at scale.
- Build workflow automation that integrates AI assistance into CI/CD pipelines, code review, testing, and developer feedback loops.
- Develop reusable tooling, templates, and frameworks that teams across the vertical can adopt without requiring deep AI expertise.
- Instrument and evaluate AI workflow effectiveness - build the feedback loops that surface where AI assistance is helping and where it is breaking down.
- Work directly with engineers across Servicing Digital to understand real workflow friction, then build tooling that eliminates it.
- Stay current on the rapidly evolving AI developer tooling landscape and bring forward-looking recommendations grounded in practical applicability.
About you
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
- 8+ years in professional software engineering roles.
- Demonstrated experience building developer tooling, automation systems, or AI-assisted workflow infrastructure in a production engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on expertise building context engineering systems - including prompt architecture, retrieval-augmented generation patterns, and evaluation harnesses for LLM-powered tooling.
- Deep practical experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalents) and the ability to extend and customize them for team-scale deployment.
- Strong engineering fundamentals in TypeScript and/or Python, with experience building developer tooling and CI/CD pipeline integrations.
- A builder's instinct: you default to shipping working software over producing frameworks, proposals, or presentations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate engineer workflow needs into durable tooling.
