OverviewWe are seeking an exceptionally talented and experienced Staff Frontend Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for driving the development of intuitive and high-performance user interfaces that empower our customers. You will collaborate closely with product management, backend engineering, design, and other stakeholders to create exceptional user experiences. This role requires a leader who is not only proficient in frontend technologies but also capable of influencing the direction of our frontend architecture and mentoring other engineers.
Role and ResponsibilitiesLead Frontend Development: Own the design, development, and delivery of major frontend features and applications, ensuring they are performant, scalable, and deliver a seamless user experience.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, Backend and Mobile Engineering, Computer Vision and Data Science, to translate business requirements into functional and compelling user interfaces.
Architectural Leadership: Influence the technical direction of the frontend stack, ensuring that our applications are built using best practices, modern technologies, and scalable architectures.
Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior and senior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Code Quality: Set the standard for code quality within the team, conducting code reviews, writing unit tests, and ensuring that the team adheres to best practices.
Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, advocating for their adoption where they can drive value. Propose and lead initiatives to modernize and improve our frontend ecosystem.
Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring that our applications are fast, responsive, and provide a smooth user experience across devices and browsers.
User Experience Focus: Work closely with UX/UI designers to ensure that the user experience is intuitive, accessible, and aligns with our customers' needs.
Educational Background: BS or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience: 6+ years of experience in frontend software engineering, with a strong portfolio of work demonstrating your ability to deliver complex and user-friendly web applications.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
Frontend Architecture: Strong understanding of frontend architecture, design patterns, and best practices. Experience with state management libraries such as Redux, and performance optimization techniques.
Mobile Web Apps: Proven experience in developing mobile web applications, with a deep understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development practices.
WebRTC: Strong knowledge of WebRTC and experience in building real-time communication applications.
Testing: Proficiency in writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using tools like Jest, Cypress, or similar frameworks.
Tooling: Experience with build tools like Webpack, Babel, and task runners. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control.
Cross-Browser Compatibility: In-depth understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and how to overcome them.
Collaboration: Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Mobile Devices & Cameras: Experience with developing applications for mobile devices, including optimizing for various screen sizes and integrating with device cameras.
Computer Vision & ML Models: Strong experience working on projects involving computer vision and machine learning models, particularly in deploying and integrating these models into frontend applications.
Cloud Services: Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP) and integrating frontend applications with cloud-based backend services.
UI/UX Design: A strong eye for design and experience working closely with UX/UI designers to implement responsive and visually appealing user interfaces.
Performance and Optimization: Proven experience in optimizing frontend performance, with a deep understanding of web performance metrics and tools.
Leadership: Previous experience in a staff or lead engineering role, with a track record of mentoring and growing engineering teams.

Socure's compensation and rewards package for full time roles includes a market competitive salary, equity, comprehensive benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans or an annual discretionary performance bonus.
