Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Sector is seeking a Staff Flight Test Engineer with electrical system design experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Mojave, CA.
We are looking for someone who has the ability to report on-site daily supporting our Gulfstream IV Flying Test Bed aircraft. Assignments will be in support of integrating new payloads on the Test Bed aircraft.
The successful applicant will perform design, analysis, and review of electrical cables and schematics of the system interfaces. Candidate must have experience in interface cable design, data bus interfaces, co-site analysis, and electrical load analysis. Experience with system interconnects and understanding of system architecture will ensure success. The position requires working with multi-discipline functions in a team environment to ensure that deliverable products meet requirements.
Specific assignments include:

Review electrical schematics

Perform electrical load analysis

Support co-site analysis

Define interfaces between line replacement units (LRU)

Perform AC and DC power design

Familiar with RF design

Opportunities to get trained and fly onboard as a Flight Test Engineer
Basic Qualifications (Staff Systems Engineer):
-
Bachelors Degree in STEM (Electrical, etc...) and a minimum of 14 years of experience in electrical design; or MS degree in STEM with 12 years of experience; or PhD degree in STEM (Aerospace, Mechanical, etc.) with 10 years of experience.

Experience with electrical cable sizing and circuit breaker protection

Experience with data bus interfaces
-
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance (US Citizenship Required)

Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access
Preferred Qualifications (Staff Systems Engineer):

Active DoD Secret Clearanc

Experience with a spectrum analyzer

Experience with electrical grounding requirements
-
Experience performing co-site analysis
-
Experience with ARINC-429, CAN Bus, 1553, Ethernet, and Honeywell Avionics Standard Communication Bus interfaces

Experience with instrumentation systems

Familiar with 14 CFR Part 25 Transport Aircraft requirements

Certification as an FAA Designated Engineering Representative for Electrical & Systems

Experience with avionics troubleshooting

Proficient with VISIO, OrCAD, Altium, and AutoCAD
Salary Range: $149,900.00 - $224,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
