Role Summary

Renew Home is looking for a talented and self-driven Staff Data Analyst to join the growing Product Analytics team.

At Renew Home, we prioritize data-driven decision making, and you will play a crucial role in making this a reality. Collaborating closely with stakeholders across the organization – Engineering, Product, Operations, Partnerships – you will deliver analytic solutions and timely insights by asking the right questions of our data.

Reporting to the Manager of Product Analytics, this role offers significant opportunities to influence the culture of Analytics at Renew Home.

What You Will Do

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with Engineering, Product, Market Operations, and Partnerships to define, implement, and iterate on measurement and analysis for our VPP performance in both utility and direct market access programs.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and interpret complex data to uncover critical business, product, and user insights. Propose strategies for improving both the systems powering our VPP and the tools used by our energy industry partners.
  • Synthesize large-scale, disparate datasets — including smart meter data, device telemetry, settlement data, and logs — to aid in compliance and increasing impact of our VPP products and services.
  • Build source of truth data models in DBT that serve as the foundation for VPP reporting and decision-making.
  • Define and monitor KPIs to evaluate the success of new VPP features and business initiatives.
  • Design effective data visualizations and dashboards to communicate to a range of audiences.
  • Define appropriate data instrumentation for new product features.
  • Perform statistical analysis and build predictive models on user interactions and smart device data to derive actionable and business-impacting insights.
  • Be curious, passionate and take ownership over functional areas.
  • Contribute to the Product Analytics team – advocate for analytic best practices, introduce new tools and processes, perform code reviews, and mentor junior analysts.
Requirements
  • Proven record (7-10+ years) of analytics industry experience.
  • Experience in the energy industry is required, including knowledge of electricity markets and electricity meter data.
  • Fluency in SQL and extensive experience with columnar databases (e.g. Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Strong foundation in statistics including inference, simulation, and optimization.
  • Proven ability to apply software engineering fundamentals to develop efficient, maintainable, and adaptable code.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity, excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Bonuses:
    • Experience building data pipelines in Python with DBT and Prefect/Airflow.
    • Experience with the AWS cloud computing ecosystem including: Redshift, s3, ZeroETL, ecs, Lambda.
    • Experience with AI/ML tools/frameworks including: Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Prophet, Numpy, Jupyter.
Benefits

What You'll Get

  • A full-time position, with a competitive salary based on experience. The base salary for this role is: $170k - $200k.
  • Fully remote work environment with home office set-up allowance.
  • Real and lived work-life balance - Company perks include no pre-set vacation limits (with a top-down culture of taking meaningful PTO every year!), parental leave benefits, and a corporate value of working sustainably and putting families first.
  • Competitive benefits package that includes numerous health and wellness benefits.
  • 401(k) plan, with employer contributions to the same.
  • Opportunity to work with amazing people who are passionate about their mission, thriving in a fully-remote work environment, and learning and growing every day.
