Position Overview
BigTime Software is seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team at our Chicago headquarters. Reporting to the Controller, this role offers broad exposure across core accounting functions while playing a key role in supporting the company's financial operations.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a smooth execution of month-end close and reconciliation activities,billing accuracy, and payment processing efficiency. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys both analytical work and cross-functional collaboration in a growing SaaS organization.
What You'll Do
As a Staff Accountant at BigTime, you will play a key role in supporting the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations. Responsibilities include:
  • Reconcile key working capital accounts (including accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities) to ensure accuracy and completeness across systems
  • Drive components of the month-end close process and prepare supporting documentation for external audits
  • Set up new customers and ensure accurate invoicing within our billing systems
  • Research and resolve customer billing discrepancies and issues
  • Process and apply customer payments, refunds, and cash receipts
  • Partner directly with customers to resolve past-due balances
  • Maintain and update vendor master files to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Receive, review, code, and process vendor invoices
  • Prepare accounts payable disbursements for approval and confirm timely payment processing
  • Assist with communications with state, city, and other governing bodies under team oversight
  • Support preparation of financial reports and analyses under the guidance of senior team members

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, Accounting or Finance concentration preferred
  • 1-3 years of work experience in either public accounting or industry, mix of both is preferred
  • Knowledge of MS Office and Excel
  • CPA or progression towards is a plus
  • SaaS billing software experience is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal to interface with customers, outside vendors and our internal team members
  • Great time-management skills

Compensation Transparency
In accordance with Illinois law, the expected salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus.
