Position Summary

The Staff Accountant I analyzes selected balance sheet and income statement accounts for the monthly review process. This position participates heavily in both internal and external audits and the review of monthly controls.

What will your job entail?

Job Responsibilities:

  • Compile and prepare all production-related requests related to external and internal audits
  • Complete fiduciary consolidated template
  • Reconcile IMS to AIM balances for property program business
  • Ensure adherence to corporate advance policy and escalates review to Premium Accounting Director
  • Finalize one or more carrier trust calculations related to program business
  • Analyze selected AR and AP billings based on aging
  • Evaluate timeliness and accuracy of revenue selections based on revenue amount
  • Reconcile write off template with the general ledger
  • Compare Core AR against Fiduciary AR at a policy level
  • Monitor potential delayed revenue issues and attempt to mitigate prior to month end
  • Participate in testing of new versions of AIM
  • Complete program related bank reconciliations
  • Review intercompany billings for corporate adjustments to AR and AP balances
  • Provide support and project work to the Premium Accounting Director and upper management as needed
  • Perform monthly audits of New York & Illinois policies and endorsements to ensure proper compliance with New York and Illinois state laws and regulations regarding proper policy and endorsement stamping requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university required except in extraordinary cases.
  • Ability to apply a broad knowledge of accounting principles to a variety of accounting activities ranging from daily transactions to detailed analysis.
  • Agency management system / insurance industry experience strongly desired
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, decision making abilities and leadership capabilities
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet individual, team, and department goals; on rare occasions travel may be necessary
  • Willingness to complete additional education requirements as necessary

The target salary range for this position is $55,800.00 - $60,000.00 annually.

The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
