Own and improve an established Ruby on Rails web platform to boost SEO, performance, reliability, and UX. Ship fixes, tests, dependency updates, and releases; work across frontend, backend, and Postgres. Contribute to Python and React products, use AI-assisted tools, prioritize product-driven improvements, and grow into primary platform ownership.

Being sick or injured is painful. Getting better shouldn’t be.

Most industries have been transformed by new technology. Healthcare is still waiting — and you can help change that.

Our mission is simple but ambitious: make healthcare accessible, transparent, and effortless for all. We put the consumer at the center, move fast and partner with forward-thinking providers to deliver software that makes care better, faster, and more human. This is work with real-world stakes — and you can help lead the way.

Solv is building healthcare infrastructure that makes everyday care easier for patients and the teams who care for them—from finding and receiving care to helping clinics reduce manual work, improve access, and run better operations.

Your primary focus will be taking ownership of an established Ruby on Rails web platform and improving its SEO, performance, reliability, and user experience. You will also contribute to Solv’s broader Python and React platform as part of an AI-assisted engineering team.

This is a strong opportunity for a mid-level engineer ready to grow through meaningful ownership. You will deepen your skills across the full product lifecycle, develop stronger technical and product judgment, and grow into the trusted owner of an important part of Solv’s platform.

You can expect to:
  • Grow into primary ownership of a Ruby on Rails web platform
  • Build a strong understanding of its architecture, data, integrations, and production behavior
  • Ship enhancements, fixes, dependency updates, tests, and releases
  • Identify and prioritize improvements to SEO, performance, usability, and reliability
  • Turn customer and business needs into practical product changes
  • Contribute to other Solv products built with Python and React
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to understand code, implement changes, debug issues, and verify behavior
  • Build experience making increasingly independent product and technical decisions
You’d be great for this role if you:
  • Have 2–4 years of experience building and maintaining production web applications
  • Have experience with Ruby on Rails, or meaningful Rails exposure and the ability to ramp up quickly
  • Are comfortable reading and contributing to Python and React codebases
  • Can work across frontend, backend, and relational databases such as Postgres
  • Have good product judgment and can make progress without fully defined requirements
  • Enjoy improving existing products, not only building new ones
  • Carefully review, test, and validate your work, including work produced with AI assistance
  • Are eager to expand your scope, take on greater ownership, and learn through experience
  • Take initiative, communicate clearly, and follow work through to production
Nice to have:
  • Experience with technical SEO, structured data, or web performance
  • Experience taking ownership of a product or codebase
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and dependency upgrades
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS or healthcare technology

Salary ranges vary by location and experience:

  • San Francisco & New York: $145,00 - $175,000
  • Colorado: $130,000 - 165,000
  • All other locations: $130,000 - 175,000

Solv offers robust benefits including:

  • Solv equity for full time US based employees
  • Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance - 100% for employees
  • 401k plan available
  • Up to 12 weeks of paid Parental Leave
  • Monthly Wellness Reimbursement
  • Flexible Time Off
  • Company Paid Life Insurance, LTD, and STD
  • Company contribution towards HSA
  • Medical and Dependent care FSAs available

This position is being hired on an urgent basis. The application window may close before August 31 if a sufficient number of applications to select a candidate are received prior to that date.
