Equipment Monitoring (EM) is Motive's connected-asset product line, covering asset gateways, beacons, and environmental and door sensors. EM is one of Motive's high-growth business lines, and we have an ambitious roadmap to execute. The EM team owns the end-to-end customer experience, from the device to the cloud, web, and mobile software customers use every day.
About the RoleAs the Cloud Software TPM for Equipment Monitoring, you will own the end-to-end delivery of EM programs across cloud software (backend, frontend, and mobile), from quarterly planning and sprint execution through customer launch and adoption. Most EM projects combine embedded, IoT, backend, and frontend work, and you will make sure those pieces come together into one cohesive plan with clear owners, milestones, and dependencies.
You will be accountable for the customer deliverables, release readiness, and measurable business outcomes of each program. Where a program involves hardware, firmware, or embedded work, you will partner closely with the hardware org TPM and embedded counterparts to work out dependencies and stay in sync on timelines and readiness, while driving the overall plan through to launch. Your ownership and delivery directly shape EM's impact on customers.
What You'll Do- Plan: Partner with EM Product and Engineering to turn quarterly and half-year roadmaps into detailed cloud software project plans with milestones, owners, measurable customer and business outcomes, and risks.
- Connect the pieces: Track cross-team dependencies for each project across embedded, hardware, IoT/Platform, Product Ops, PMM, Design, and Support, partnering closely with the hardware org TPM on devices and international rollouts so projects don't stall in the gaps between teams and customer commitments are met.
- Own end-to-end delivery: Be accountable for each program from kickoff through customer launch and adoption, tracking milestones across concurrent programs, surfacing risks and tradeoffs early (scope, quality, and timeline), and driving decisions with stakeholders and leadership to keep delivery on track. Use customer feedback and support signals to close the loop after launch.
- Communicate: Maintain a single source of truth for program status, share weekly updates, and report program health, risks, and outcomes in monthly and quarterly business reviews, translating technical detail into business impact.
- Run the operating rhythm: Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and demos for EM cloud engineering, and drive release-readiness checkpoints so quality risks surface before launch.
- Improve how we work: Run intake and triage for ad-hoc requests, fix recurring execution gaps with durable solutions, and lead quarter- and project-level retrospectives.
- 5+ years of experience in technical program management, with the technical fluency to engage credibly with engineers on architecture, tradeoffs, and delivery risks; a technical degree or equivalent experience is recommended.
- Proven track record leading large, ambiguous, multi-team cloud software programs (backend, web, mobile) with significant cross-team dependencies and measurable customer or business impact.
- Bias for action and root-cause problem solving over administrative tracking.
- Strong organization and communication; ability to lead and coach without authority across distributed teams and to translate technical detail into clear updates for leadership.
- Ability to define and track quality and delivery metrics (for example, escaped defects, reliability, predictability, customer feedback) and turn data into an action plan.
- Comfort in a fast-paced, changing environment, building process where little exists.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools, strong knowledge of agile methods, and experience using automation (including AI tools) to keep programs visible without manual overhead for engineers.
- Exposure to connected-device or IoT products (firmware release cycles, device qualification, OTA updates), which helps in partnering with hardware and embedded teams.
- CSM or PMP certification.
