Position Summary

The Senior System Administrator – Microsoft Platforms plays an important role in the organization by performing several activities related to the company’s Information Technology functions. The role is primarily responsible, under limited to intermittent supervision, for helping ensure the functionality of company software and IT systems. He or she will be responsible for building and maintaining solutions on Microsoft platforms including SharePoint, Power Platform, and Azure. The Senior System Administrator – Microsoft Platforms oversees and directs IT projects and supervises work being performed by more junior level teammates & contractors.

Compensation

This role is an exempt position with a targeted salary range of $94,882 to $136,096 annually.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for managing and implementing Microsoft 365 features for organization.
  • Promote the health of Microsoft platforms; address failing automations, sprawl, and technical debt.
  • Build solutions that meet or exceed business requirements on Microsoft platforms including SharePoint, Power Platform, and Azure.
  • Track development efforts in Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar; partner with the business to maintain a prioritized backlog.
  • Champion the adoption of Microsoft 365 services as appropriate for our business; support a ‘maker community’ of citizen developers.
  • Create and maintain policies, practices, and governance controls related to field of expertise; properly document policies, practices, and controls for future reference, updating information as needed.
  • Build and maintain development best practices for Microsoft platforms.
  • Keep up to date on feature releases, changes, and bugs related to Microsoft platforms.
  • Use expertise to support and provide guidance to junior level teammates; help resolve escalated issues as needed.
  • Oversee and assign tasks to junior-level systems administrators & contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum five years experience in system administration related role(s).
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft Platforms including SharePoint, Power Platform, and Azure.
  • Day to day administration of Microsoft Platforms including SharePoint, Power Platform, and Azure including policy and configuration changes.
  • Supporting the sync and sharing of large volumes of data with OneDrive.
  • Advanced skills managing SharePoint, Power Platform, and Azure using PowerShell.
  • An understanding of ISACA and SANS Frameworks.
  • Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to learn/adapt to new technologies and techniques.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills required.
  • Passionate about delivering excellence in customer service within a team environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business/technological periodicals, procedures, and journals.
  • Ability to write procedure manuals.
  • Ability to be patient and train less experienced team members; respond to questions, build capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications required.

Supervision

Job Scope:  Responsible for understanding the department/functional area objectives and goals and how own job contributes to achievement of these goals; may recommend changes and enhancements based on analysis and evaluation of circumstances.

Complexity:  Problems are often complex and specialized and may involve unprecedented circumstances; resolution requires investigation, analysis and review of professional/organizational standards.

Impact:  Decisions and actions have an impact on the smooth operation and timeframes of the department, programs/projects; impact on the broader organization is generally indirect.

Interaction/Supervision:  Acts as a mentor/guide to less experienced professional contributor staff in a similar role; works independently and only under general direction; guided by professional standards, desired outcomes, and project plan specifications.

Requirements

  • Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.
  • Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation.
  • Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.
  • Office environment – moderate noise, no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Travel 5% or less.
  • This role requires effective adaptation to workplace stressors, including customer service complaints, security responsibilities, and competing priorities.
  • Must be able to adhere to process protocol. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.
  • Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday.
