The Senior Staff Engineer-Human Factors is responsible for influencing engine design, technical data and key processes so as to reduce the risk of human error and increase human efficacy. In addition, you will support cross functional teams for the purposes of field investigation, training across the enterprise and institutionalizing human factors principles at GE Aerospace.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the theory, design, development and practical implementation of product safety engineering methodologies and techniques for equipment and devices. Execute a process to identify and mitigate safety risks inherent to the product design to an acceptable level; conduct rigorous safety risk assessments, hazard evaluations, utilize human factors principles to drive design improvements in order to eliminate human error in the operation and maintenance of the product in the field
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering
  • Experience with turbine engine design and maintenance
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
