How We Work with AI:
AI tooling is a core part of how we operate, and we expect engineers at this level to use AI thoughtfully to improve productivity, software quality, and engineering effectiveness.
You treat AI as a collaborator, not a substitute for engineering judgment. You know when to leverage AI-assisted development, when to critically review generated code, and how to maintain high standards for testing, security, and maintainability.
You actively explore opportunities to improve development workflows using AI while contributing to best practices for safe, responsible, and effective adoption across the engineering organization.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a high-performing engineering team through collaboration, mentorship, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership within your domain.
- Design, implement, and maintain highly scalable and performant services, data pipelines, and platform capabilities.
- Own the quality, reliability, and performance of services and data products through improvements in code, testing strategy, observability, and operational excellence
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions by evaluating trade-offs, risks, and data-driven insights in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Communicate with stakeholders and set accurate expectations for milestones on projects
- Contribute to engineering standards, data engineering patterns, and team processes while driving continuous improvement across systems and development practices.
- Leverage AI-assisted tooling (e.g., for code, testing, and observability) to ship changes safely and efficiently while maintaining high engineering standards.
- Own delivery of moderately complex projects end-to-end, from design through production support.
- Participate in system design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions across data products, platform services, and supporting infrastructure.
- Create thorough documentation for both project plans, design decisions, and system architectures
- Partner with Data Science, Analytics, and Product teams to build trusted data products that enable scalable decision-making and experimentation.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related quantitative degree.
- Significant experience designing, building, deploying, operating, and maintaining cloud-based services, distributed data platforms, and microservices (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
- Extensive experience with multiple programming languages (Go, Java, python, C#, Rust, etc.), as well as willingness to learn new languages as needed
- Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases, data modeling, and building reliable, large-scale data pipelines and distributed data processing systems.
- Proven debugging/troubleshooting skills.
- Strong understanding of component-level and application-level design patterns and their practical application.
- Ability to deal with ambiguous and complex project requirements.
- Effective verbal and written communicator.
- Experience with observability, monitoring, and operational telemetry platforms (Datadog, CloudWatch, Sentry, OpenTelemetry, etc.).
- Experience with unit, integration, end-to-end, and automated testing practices.
Preferred Skills:
- Preferred languages - Go and Python.
- Experience building and operating data orchestration workflows using Airflow, AWS Step Functions, Dagster, or similar workflow orchestration platforms.
- Experience with containers and container orchestrators like Docker, Kubernetes, AKS
- Hands-on experience with serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and event-driven architectures.
- Experience working with modern data lake or lakehouse technologies (Iceberg, Delta Lake, Apache Hudi, or similar) is a plus.
- Experience supporting AI/ML data pipelines or feature engineering workflows, with the ability to evaluate AI/ML solutions pragmatically while balancing impact, risk, and long-term maintainability.
- Experience with agile methodologies and rapid iteration cycles.
