What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to develop scalable backend services and search platforms.
  • Lead the architecture and development of high-performance search functionalities using Elasticsearch and other search technologies.
  • Optimize and evolve our search platform to improve relevance, speed, and accuracy in helping consumers find their next home.
  • Design and develop data pipelines, integrating machine learning models to enhance search and recommendation features.
  • Drive performance optimizations for high-traffic, high-velocity applications, ensuring efficient data processing and reduced latency.
  • Contribute to the optimization of our developer toolchain, focusing on automated deployment processes and improved development efficiency.
  • Take ownership of multiple backend components, driving technical decisions that impact system architecture and scalability.

What You'll Bring:

  • A skilled software engineer with experience in building scalable search platforms and backend services.
  • Comfortable in leading projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills with a growth and learning mindset.
  • Experienced in designing, developing, and deploying backend systems using modern technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Go.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with specific experience in search technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Solr) and backend services.
  • Knowledge of building efficient, scalable search algorithms and optimizing search performance.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Experience with cloud-based architectures, particularly AWS (Lambda, EC2, S3, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
