We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and enhance Lowe's core Search Platform that powers enterprise search experiences across digital and store channels. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and operating scalable OpenSearch/Elasticsearch solutions, cloud-native services, and batch and near real-time data ingestion pipelines while driving platform performance, reliability, scalability, and modernization. What You Will Do
1. Search Platform Engineering
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Search Platform capabilities using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
- Build cloud-native services and APIs supporting Search Platform functionality.
- Improve platform scalability, reliability, search performance, and support modernization initiatives.
2. Data Pipeline Engineering
- Build and maintain scalable batch and near real-time data ingestion and ETL pipelines.
- Ingest, transform, validate, and publish enterprise data for Search Platform consumers.
- Optimize indexing, document synchronization, and search data performance using Google Cloud Platform technologies.
3. Platform Operations
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, automation, and CI/CD practices.
- Troubleshoot production issues to ensure platform stability, availability, and performance.
4. Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Participate in architecture, engineering design, and code reviews.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate across Agile engineering, platform, and product teams to deliver scalable Search Platform solutions.
Primary Skills:
- Expertise in OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, including high-volume ingestion, indexing, document synchronization, and performance optimization.
- Strong Python programming skills. Java experience is a plus.
- Experience building batch and near real-time data ingestion and ETL pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform technologies, including Apache Beam, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Composer.
- Experience developing cloud-native applications, REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience with CI/CD, Git, monitoring, logging, and production support.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, collaboration, and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems (CIS), or related field or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
- 5 years of experience in software development or a related field
- 4 years of experience in any of following competencies: frontend technologies (user interface/user experience), middleware (microservices and application programming interfaces), database technologies, or DevOps
- 4 years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC) through iterative agile development
Preferred Skills/Education
Master's degree in computer science, CIS, or related field
- Experience with AI/ML data pipelines and AI-enabled search platforms.
- Experience with Apache Spark and large-scale distributed computing.
- Experience optimizing OpenSearch/Elasticsearch clusters for scalability and resiliency.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).
- Experience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Cloud Monitoring.
- Experience working in retail, e-commerce, or search domains.
- Google Cloud certifications are a plus.
