Sr. Software Engineer, Core Services

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Services team, you'll build foundational services that power our platform, including messaging, authorization, and audit systems. You'll provide technical leadership across teams, consult on architecture decisions, and mentor junior engineers while directly impacting our members' healthcare experiences.

What You’ll Do

• Design and maintain robust core services using Node.js, NestJS, and gRPC
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to ensure scalability and reliability
• Collaborate with product teams to implement solutions aligned with business goals
• Mentor junior engineers and foster technical excellence
• Drive best practices for security, performance, and maintainability
• Make independent technical decisions to improve platform stability

Who You Are

• 7+ years of experience building scalable, complex distributed systems
• Strong background in system design and architecture
• Skilled at influencing technical decisions and collaborating across teams
• Excellent communicator of complex technical concepts to all stakeholders
• Committed to mentoring and supporting team members' growth
• Proficient with Node.js, NestJS, GraphQL, TypeScript, and gRPC

Bonus Points for

• Experience with React or similar frontend frameworks
• Mobile development skills (native or React Native)
• Experience with tRPC
• Familiarity with authorization systems and audit logging
• Experience in healthcare or regulated environments (HIPAA compliance)
• Background with messaging platforms like Kafka

SALARY (Before Bonus Potential):  $160,000 - $190,000
Offer amounts for both remote and in office roles are influenced by geographic location.
