As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We’re also a mission-driven company. We cultivate a culture that gives every CrowdStriker both the flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.

About the Role:

As a Senior+ contributor, you'll join this Core Platform Team with bottom-up ownership of our codebase and a far-reaching edict for service resiliency, with several key feature additions and critical re-architecture initiatives underway (improvements to core libraries and platform services, observability tooling (tracing, profiling, alerting, SLOs etc), and automation to reduce manual toil).

Recently we introduced adaptive concurrency to our core kafka library which implements flow control to protect database performance and are presently making large-scale automations around how we build new clouds. In terms of overarching goals, we’re building the next-generation infrastructure and security platform for CrowdStrike which include an application and service delivery platform, massively scalable distributed data storage and replication systems, and a cutting-edge search and distributed graph system. Help us scale CrowdStrike’s infrastructure and products to handle massive growth in traffic and data as we continue to experience dramatic growth in the usage of our products.

Crowdstrike Falcon is THE industry standard in cloud-native cyber security and threat hunting, processing Trillions of events/day. You’ll be positioned for optimal widespread impact with  bottom-up ownership of our core codebase, driving architectural choices that affect every feature development team, providing shared architectural components to be leveraged throughout the Falcon Platform (things like Unified Search, Protobuf libraries and other shared-tier architectural components).

If you’re a math-brained or algorithmic thinker who loves optimization at its core, then we’ve got the role to put your strengths to work! Throwing you headfirst into our core codebase to push the capabilities of our platform and drive optimizations for the entire product suite's architecture.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and maintain services to meet reliability and scalability demands.

  • Develop and enhancement monitoring services.

  • Extend and build new libraries for cross-cutting concerns that comprise/extend to the entirety of CrowdStrike's cloud platform, which consists of hundreds of libraries and services.

  • Constantly re-evaluate our product to improve architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance and stability.

  • Use and give back to the open source community.

  • Evangelize best practices for building software, especially as pertains to Go.

  • Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams.

  • Obsess about learning, and champion the newest technologies & tricks with others, raising the technical IQ of the team.

  • Mentor other developers on web, backend and data storage technologies and our system.

  • Update OSS dependencies as needed

  • Be mentored and mentor other developers on web security, authentication and authorization strategies.

  • Be an energetic ‘self-starter’ with the ability to take ownership and be accountable for deliverable.

What You'll Need:

  • United States Citizenship OR Permanent Residency is necessary to retain access to resources in AWS GovCloud (NO Clearance necessary)

  • 7+ years (Avg. Exp = 10-15 yrs) of full-time experience in a service-oriented backend developer role

  • 5+ recent years developing microservices for a SaaS product, in one of the following object-oriented languages: Golang, Java, Scala, Kotlin, Python, Node.js.

  • Degree in Computer Science (or commensurate experience in data structures/algorithms/distributed systems).

  • Expert-level knowledge of Golang

  • The ability to scale backend systems – sharding, partitioning, scaling horizontally are second nature to you.

  • The desire to ship code and the love of seeing your bits run in production.

  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges.

  • Deep understand multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing technologies.

  • Team player skills – we embrace collaborating as a team as much as possible.

  • A thorough understanding of engineering best practices from appropriate testing paradigms to effective peer code reviews and resilient architecture.

  • The ability to thrive in a fast paced, test-driven, collaborative and iterative programming environment.

  • The skills to meet your commitments on time and produce high quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

Bonus Points:

  • Contributions to the open source community (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging).

  • Existing exposure to Go, Java, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch, etc.

  • Prior experience in the cybersecurity or intelligence fields.
