The Senior Project Manager demonstrates advanced project management capabilities and life sciences industry knowledge in order to drive the manufacturing or packaging process transfer or analytical method transfer from internal or external originating/sending units into the commercial facilities. The ability to independently handle a portfolio of complex, multifaceted client projects through creative problem solving, cross-functional teamwork, collaboration, partnership enables successful project delivery in this role!
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead customer project(s) and project team activities, acting as the main point of contact for both internal and external customers. Collaborate with the Business Manager to facilitate new initiatives and manage contract amendments.
- Maintain close contact with the client representative(s) through meetings, site visits, teleconferences, and other forums to ensure that issues are addressed and project timeline activities are met.
- Serve as primary contact and communication link between Company and customer.
- Meet regularly with project team members and production staff to understand operations and issues as related to the project(s).
- Coordinate internal development activities to ensure successful product transfers.
- Resolve project conflicts within the company and with customer contacts, finding solutions that satisfy both parties and informing management of any potential risks or issues.
- Complete all project activity plans/reports accurately, in detail, and by the necessary time.

- Independently runs a large, complex project portfolio or multiple client projects, planning and delivering at all project stages.
- Structures project(s) in line with client strategy by demonstrating an entrepreneurial approach; optimizes processes to identify needs, defines resources requirements, monitors performance and identifies improvement opportunities.
- Develops methods to proactively identify, monitor, and evaluate project challenges and partners with cross functional teams to cultivate solutions and deliver positive outcomes. Mentors other team members on project resolution.
- Pro-actively defines, tracks, and negotiates expenses, budgets, and revisions in response to project results and performance.
- Extensive understanding of customer contract terms and conditions; skilled in negotiations and mentors the team in effective contract management.
Client Relationship Management
- Highly skilled at performing and interpreting comprehensive need analyses which reflect an understanding of the customer's target market and value proposition.
- Detailed understanding of Thermo Fisher's solutions portfolio and industry, and capable of effectively explaining how Thermo Fisher's value proposition is outstanding compared to competitive offerings.
Technical Knowledge
- Demonstrates advanced technical capabilities and strong expertise in site processes, industry requirements, and problem solving.
- Leads project efficiently in different systems to provide accurate forecasting information to core team, leadership and the client. Maintains accountability for individual and team outcomes.
- Proactively advances the efficiency and effectiveness of work processes, procedures, and outputs.
Project Management Leadership
- Collaborates well, builds effective business relationships and brings new or alternative perspectives forward to overcome difficulty or uncertainty and builds a coalition.
- Crafts S.M.A.R.T. objectives and forms a realistic action roadmap with timelines.
- Assumes leadership responsibilities when required, leads and supports cross-functional teams to achieve success, and strategically plans a timeline for timely completion.
- Adept at crafting project-related communications for site and network leadership consumption.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor of Science in relevant scientific field or education/work experience equivalent
- Certification: PMP certification or similar preferred
- Years of Experience:
- 8 years experience in project management
- 6 years experience if holding an advanced degree
