The Senior QA Automation Engineer designs, develops, and maintains automated testing frameworks using Playwright, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software through collaboration and continuous improvement.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior QA Automation Engineer with extensive automation experience, particularly with Playwright. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our automated testing frameworks and suites for our web applications. You will work closely with development, product, and other QA team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality, robust, and reliable software.
This is a contract role (3 months with possibility for extension) open to candidates residing in the following states or Corp to Corp.
Key Responsibilities:
- Automation Strategy & Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, robust, and efficient automated test suites using Playwright (TypeScript).
- Debugging Playwright tests using trace files and logs.
- Contribute significantly to the architecture and evolution of our automation frameworks.
- Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to support continuous testing.
- Defect Management:
- Identify and communicate bugs found during ad-hoc or scheduled test executions
- Work closely with the supervisor to reproduce, debug, and resolve issues.
- Quality Advocacy:
- Act as a strong advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Continuously seek to improve QA processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Collaboration:
- Participate in design reviews, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups.
- Communicate test results, risks, and quality metrics to the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years of direct experience in Quality Assurance focused on test automation development or 5+ years of development experience.
- Playwright Expertise: Strong experience in designing, developing, debugging and maintaining test automation frameworks and scripts specifically with Playwright.
- Programming Skills: Proficient in TypeScript/JavaScript programming language.
- Web Technologies: Solid understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM, React).
- Framework: Solid understanding of Oops concepts and Design patterns.
- Version Control: Familiar with version control systems such as Git.
- Database: Hands-on database SQL queries experience.
- Testing Methodologies: Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Test Management Tools: Proficiency with tools like Jira, Azure, Qase.
- CI/CD: Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):
- Master's/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related software field.
- Experience with API testing (e.g., Postman, Rest Assured, in-house tooling).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Previous 5+ years of experience in a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role or 3+ years of experience as Software Development.
- Hands-on with performance or security testing.
- Mentorship or leadership experience within a QA team.
Salary
- Hourly range for this position is $45 to $55 per hour
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Individual hourly pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training
