The Director‘s primary focus is to oversee and manage our multiple projects to ensure a proper delivery of each project, within budget, time and to deliver our promise we have given to our international clients. People are our key to success so the role will be in line responsible for a team of highly-skilled and passionate project managers. As we deliver our material handling systems as a team, the Director will work with Engineering, Sales, Supplier Relations, Legal, Finance and Service.
The Director, Project Management, will have a high level of autonomy delivering projects and will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of creativity commensurate with their experience. The role will require the Director to demonstrate advanced project and client leadership management skills, comprehensive proficiency in the development of associates and teams, and advanced consultative skills.
Primary Responsibilities:

- Develop, improve, and advise on the available standards, procedures, methods, tools, techniques, and our project management approach in general
- Develop and apply quality control mechanism where necessary
- Develop and maintain metrics to continuously monitor our project and portfolio performance
- Close collaboration with our supplier relations department to support qualifying and adding new Supplier Partners into Fortna’s database of suppliers
- Constantly working to expand knowledge of industry best practices and the latest technology for the whole team

- Manage and steer our project portfolio in a holistic perspective by respecting industry-related standards to deliver our high-technological material handling systems
- Represent Fortna management in clients steering meetings during our project lifecycle
- Apply advanced understanding of supply chain concepts, processes, and trends in the design and implementation of solutions.
- Understand specific capabilities within supply chain applications and leverage advanced knowledge to assist with design and implementation efforts
- Leverage advanced experience and knowledge to evaluate and compare material handling alternatives and technologies when supporting the design and implementation of solutions
- Leverage broad consulting skills to resolve issues and assure client acceptance to agreed deliverables, educate them on approach and methods, and help assure closed-loop communication strategies are implemented to inform stakeholders
- Assist the sales team with preliminary schedules, sales calls, site reviews and installation plans for green/brown field projects and programs of complex scope and size or basic retrofits
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of project management experience
- Expert proficiency in written and verbal communication (both English and German)
- Bachelor’s degree majoring in an applicable engineering discipline or economics
- 8+ years’ experience leading, training and developing teams
- Certificate in PMP, IPMA or similar
- Travel: Ability to travel nationally and internationally
- Ability to perform essential requirements of the position

- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets for both complex and multiple projects. Proven ability to manage projects for on-time and on-budget metrics and partnering with Project Accountants
- Highly advanced time management competencies, with extensive experience delivering highly complex programs and projects on time and on budget
- Advanced project management skills, demonstrated through requisite knowledge and experience
- Advanced presentation development and delivery skills
- Advanced client management and project leadership skills demonstrated through broad consultative experience and knowledge
- Proficient understanding of MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Project
WORKING CONDITIONS: When duties are performed in a typical office environment, extended periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen will be required. Also required is the ability to talk and hear, in person and by telephone; use of hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; and ability to reach with hands and arms. Associates are frequently required to walk and stand. The noise level in this work environment is usually quiet. When travelling to Client sites, essential requirements of this position may require physical presence in various environments and locations. Physical stamina may be required for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and/or working in cramped quarters. Exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment amidst a variety of building materials is probable, as is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can vary from being relatively quiet, to moderate, to excessive. Safety shoes or boots may be required in certain situations. Additional safety clothing including gloves, hardhats, and devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing, will be worn as necessary.

The base salary range for this role is $133,200 to $199,800. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. The actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
