JOB DESCRIPTION
A senior product owner's main objective is to translate business problems and requirements into user stories that enable a development team to create the best solution to solve customer problems. A senior product owner at Vertafore owns their backlog and prioritizes it to align with product strategy, business goals, and achieve project goals and objectives. The senior product owner will provide clarity in complex projects, collaborating with internal, and at-times external stakeholders.
You'll work closely with Product Managers to understand roadmap goals/strategy and distill high-level requirements user stories that enable development teams to understand what problems need to be solved to create the best solution. As a Senior Product Owner you will also prioritize the development backlog and work with Product Managers to plan and sequence the work appropriately. As features or user stories are delivered you'll work closely with QA to ensure the problems are solved and requirements are met.

Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:• Translate business problems and requirements into prioritized backlog of user stories for the development teams to implement• Translate business problems and requirements into prioritized backlog of user stories for the development teams to implement• Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams to get clarity needed to document user stories to appropriate level of detail• Translate project goals/objectives/strategy to actionable work, prioritizing and sequencing development work• Partner with QA to define acceptance criteria and verify acceptance criteria are met• Research and respond to questions from designers, developers, and QA• When needed, work directly with customers and conduct market research to clarify requirements• Clarify user stories to the appropriate level of detail• Collaborate with product management, development, and design for successful delivery• Partner with product manager to align to corporate objectives and market strategy• Partner with product manager to define product vision and roadmap• Triage and investigate incoming defects and requests for development assistance from Support• Demonstrate complete User Stories and Features to internal stakeholders• Participate in creation of Release Notes• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:• 5+ years' professional experience, preferably working with B2B SaaS software• Previous experience as a product owner for a B2B SaaS software company• Real world experience working as part of an Agile software development team• Experience working within a cross functional organization and understanding the needs of multiple teams• Experience supporting customer needs and communicating• Experience communicating effectively with multiple parties, including customers• Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment within generally defined practices and select methods to obtain solutions• Experience managing internal stakeholders and aligning to deliver• Experience prioritizing product delivery to align to market strategy, product vision, and corporate objectives• CSPO certification preferred but not required• Strong preference for bilingual English / French candidates
Additional Requirements and Details:• Travel required up to 10% of the time.• Works from a quiet, private remote workspace suitable for virtual meetings or located and working from our Montreal office location.• Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.• Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements required to operate a computer.• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (working on a computer, etc.).• Frequent sitting and/or standing.
