We are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer as Yahoo Finance undergoes a period of rapid innovation and expansion. This role will be a key contributor to the platform powering Yahoo Finance’s rapidly growing Investor Community.

You will design and build next-generation platform capabilities and user-facing experiences, balancing pragmatic and innovative approaches across frontend and backend systems. This role emphasizes ownership across the stack, from UI implementation to backend services and data layers.

You will work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to build high-quality features that help users make more informed investment decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and operate features across the frontend, backend, and data layers.

  • Build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that power user-facing functionality.

  • Own the development of user facing interfaces using modern frontend frameworks, with a focus on performance, accessibility, and maintainability.

  • Work closely with product managers and designers to translate requirements into practical, well executed solutions.

  • Help shape architectural decisions and technical direction across the stack.

  • Maintain a high bar for code quality and system reliability through testing, code reviews, and sound operational practices.

  • Mentor and support other engineers while contributing to a collaborative, high performing team.

Qualifications
  • BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience.

  • Strong experience building and operating backend services using one or more modern programming languages.

  • Experience designing and maintaining APIs consumed by user-facing applications.

  • Experience working with relational and document databases in production.

  • Hands on experience building production user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks.

  • Solid understanding of frontend fundamentals, including browser behavior, performance considerations, and accessibility.

  • Experience operating software in production, including testing, deployment, and ongoing support.

  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and code organization skills.

  • Any experience in using AI to develop code and solve problems is a huge plus!

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
