Job Description

Premier is looking for someone who is passionate about leveraging data and technology to improve the health of our communities. In Premier’s Cost Management division, we create applications and analytics that help healthcare systems improve their efficiency. We’re focused on what our members, an alliance of approximately 3,750 U.S. hospitals and 130,000 other providers, need to drive down costs within their supply chain and provide high value healthcare.
As a Senior Portfolio Business Analyst, you are the accountable liaison between product management, software development, user experience, and support. You understand the business needs of supply chain professionals and the relative importance of these needs. You understand how data is created, stored, manipulated, and used to answer questions and solve problems. You know what it’s like to be a user who depends on workflow and analysis tools daily to perform their job.
In this role you will relate the specific needs and experiences of the users you represent to software developers and testers as well as training, support, and implementation teams. You will need to work with many different functions and personalities to lead the creation of effective solutions. You will also have to stay tightly aligned with product management, helping translate their vision into solutions for our members. This requires adaptability, a good intuition for priority, and the ability to manage up.
And while your primary job is to translate the latest big ideas from product management into bite-sized requirements for development, you’ll be expected to have big ideas of your own. This may be your latest analysis showing how to improve our applications, our processes, or the business. Or it may be an idea for a new product.
At Premier you have the ability to make a meaningful impact on healthcare in the United States. Our culture values its people and their innovation, performance, and teamwork. We are a rapidly growing company with many opportunities to grow along with it, and if this role seems like a fit, we would love to talk to you.
Preferred:
• Experience in an operational supply chain role (e.g. buyer, contract manager, materials manager); OK if early career.
• High-level familiarity with how data is commonly stored, transformed, and how it flows between systems.
• Understanding of supply chain data. Examples:
o The specific attributes making up an item master and their use
o The important attributes of contract data
• Experience with advanced analysis, visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, Qlik, Microstrategy, SAP Business Objects, etc..
• Experience in healthcare, with a focus on one or more of the following:
o Supply chain operations & staff

• Ability to engage people and use analogies to communicate unfamiliar concepts.
• Proactive and creative problem solver.
• Experience leading the investigation through resolution of issues. Strong root cause analysis skills.
• Experience investigating, evaluating and supporting prioritization of enhancement suggestions from users.
• Ability to effectively lead small teams through a solution.
Ideal:
• Agile story-writing
o Easily understood by both business and technical audiences.
o Detailed/comprehensive acceptance criteria
• Ability to negotiate between users, stakeholders, and developers to find the most efficient way to rapidly deliver small but useful pieces of functionality that sum to achieve the larger objectives.
• 1+ years SQL
• Prior coding experience.
• Ability to understand diverse user personas, particularly those that are less comfortable with technology.
• Ability to develop relationships with Premier’s field team and member health system staff.
• Able to assess and establish relative priority of requirements.
• Able to coach and mentor less senior business analysts and colleagues.
• Innovates in own processes and team processes to improve efficiency. Explores creative new approaches to solving business and customer problems.
