About the Role

Community Talent Partners is seeking an experienced Senior MES Engineer on behalf of a client in the industrial automation sector, based in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This position requires a seasoned professional with demonstrated technical proficiency in software design, configuration, and integration of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). The ideal candidate will serve as a technical lead and solution architect, guiding clients and engineering teams through the entire lifecycle of MES solution development—from requirements and platform evaluation to implementation, testing, and commissioning.

This is a leadership-level role that combines engineering expertise, business insight, and project management to deliver high-performance MES solutions that improve production efficiency, regulatory compliance, and data connectivity across manufacturing systems.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of MES solutions integrating with Level 2 and Level 4 systems.

  • Collaborate directly with clients to define requirements, select platforms, and develop technical specifications.

  • Act as a solution architect—conceptualizing and implementing MES strategies that enhance productivity, compliance, and traceability.

  • Manage project execution plans, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.

  • Oversee daily project operations, ensuring quality, profitability, and on-time delivery.

  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians; provide leadership and technical guidance across project teams.

  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards, including cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and GAMP5.

  • Develop and maintain system interfaces with platforms such as DeltaV, SAP, LIMS, PI, and Maximo.

  • Support data-driven process improvements through MES analytics and reporting.

  • Build and sustain client relationships that drive repeat business and long-term partnerships.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Sciences (required).

  • 10+ years of experience delivering MES solutions within industrial or life sciences environments.

  • Hands-on experience with Werum PAS-X, Sepasoft, or POMS platforms.

  • Proven success leading all phases of MES projects—concept design, implementation, start-up, and commissioning.

  • Expertise in EBR recipe design using S88, S95, and GAMP5 standards.

  • Strong familiarity with regulated manufacturing processes (pharmaceutical, biotech, or GMP settings).

  • Proficient in SQL, Oracle, and relational databases.

  • Strong understanding of IT/OT networking, data historians, and reporting systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Experience mentoring engineers and managing project teams.

  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Work Environment
  • Standard office and on-site industrial environments.

  • Frequent use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment.

  • May involve light physical activity, such as driving, lifting, and equipment setup.
