As part of the Corporate Accounting Technical Accounting team, this position will play a lead role in our technical accounting function. This position will serve as an expert on U.S. GAAP and SEC technical accounting issues relate to revenue recognition, CECL and other topics as needed by researching complex transactions and new accounting guidance, independently assessing implications, documenting conclusions, communicating with the impacted businesses and corporate departments, training, and managing an implementation plan. Routinely provide technical accounting guidance related to various technical issues mainly related to revenue recognition and CECL. The candidate must rely upon experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks/projects in a timely manner including the ability to work under tight deadlines and working proactively with senior management external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters.

This position will research, analyze, and assist in determining the appropriate accounting treatment of complex transactions and new GAAP accounting standards. The Sr. Manager of Technical Accounting plays a crucial role over revenue recognition, CECL as well as other areas as needed. This is a highly visible position within the Corporate Accounting team with an excellent career path reporting to the Director, Technical Accounting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Frequently identify, evaluate and document complex technical and operational accounting issues, including but not limited to revenue recognition and CECL.
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s financial accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP. Partner with Vertical Finance Leaders, Legal, Business Development, and other teams across the organization to provide technical accounting guidance to ensure transactions are accounted for accurately in the Company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Continually assess, develop, and update the documentation associated with the Company’s accounting policies and processes.
  • Work closely with Vertical Finance Leaders, Legal Counsel, and others as needed to provide guidance in the structuring of revenue contracts, ensuring that appropriate language is included in agreements prior to finalization.
  • Maintain a current level of expertise relating to professional standards and emerging industry and technical developments.
  • Remain current on business decisions, including review of contracts to identify and address critical accounting issues related to revenue recognition.
  • Serve as the lead member of the technical accounting team in the performance of researching issues, determination of financial reporting and disclosure impact, ensuring timely adoption of new accounting standards, and preparation of technical accounting memos.
  • Own the Company’s Non-GAAP policy and advise on appropriate classification for new and non-recurring transactions under the policy.
  • Be on the leading edge' of new accounting pronouncements and training executives and company personnel on changes and impact.
  • Interact directly with controllership team members around the world as well as key leadership in multiple functions across the organization.
  • Serve as a key contact with the external auditors, including management of selected audit deliverables.
  • Develop strong cross-functional relationships and serve as a business partner during the negotiation of transactions to ensure desired accounting outcomes.
  • Serve as the fulcrum of the company's technical review committee, a forum for formulating accounting positions in a team environment, training team members, and developing execution plans.
  • Contribute to merger and acquisition activities related mainly to areas of revenue recognition and CECL, including due diligence.
  • Contribute to various department and organizational special projects as required.
  • Assists in maintaining and improving SOX compliance as it relates to technical accounting processes.
  • Build a strong cross-functional peer group bond within the global finance teams, internal audit and operations to ensure compliance with US GAAP.
  • Research accounting matters as necessary, and document accounting positions in accounting memos and financial statements.
  • Identify, develop, and implement processes and best practices within the organization, drive efficiencies in business and accounting processes.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance as needed.
  • Assist in the assessment of the accounting and operational impact of accounting regulatory requirements. Build strong collaborative relationships with key members of our Corporate Development, Legal, Finance, Tax and Accounting Operations teams.
  • Work with the various business units to develop required business process changes and business requirements for implementation of accounting standard changes.
  • Develop a strong culture of collaboration and high-level execution to create the foundation to support expected growth. This includes documentation of areas that the organization can improve.
  • Proactively participate in the implementation and monitoring of internal controls and establishment of accounting procedures.
  • Responsible for the support of various ad-hoc projects pertaining to technical accounting matters and other topics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously find opportunities to improve existing processes and internal controls to build more efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Stay current with emerging financial accounting rules and drive the implementation of new accounting rules within the business.
  • Perform technical accounting research, assessments, and implementations.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Excel, Word and Access
  • Accounting or Finance degree required
  • Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) experience preferred
  • Strong ability to understand and communicate financial concepts
  • Knowledge of USGAAP
  • CPA Required

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: 

Typically 10 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in terms of any applicable professional experience; 3 or more years of management experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: 

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master's degree or global equivalent a plus.

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Travel typically less than 10%.  Office environment. No special physical demands required.

The posted range for this position is $112,003 to $175,005 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc. 

 

This position is eligible for a bonus not reflected in the posted range.
