Department OverviewSUMMARY/SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Sr. Manager of Supplier Quality and Tooling will report to the Group Director of Quality within the Supply Chain function and will support the LMR (Land Mobile Radio) and Video Access and Security businesses.
Job Description
This individual is a “change agent” and will partner with internal executive stakeholders and suppliers to develop and execute best practices across the supply base. The Sr. Manager of Supplier Quality and Tooling also determines and assess supplier risk profile using leading and lagging indicators to resolve key supplier and commodity issues, build on global quality standards and processes, provide training on key competencies as well as other project management activities. Additionally, The Senior Manager of Supplier Quality and Tooling builds, inspires, empowers and guides the supplier quality and tooling teams to deliver best in class solutions to Motorola Solutions customers.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Collaborate and partner with key stakeholders to ensure supplier quality is meeting expectations and objectives

Development and implementation of strategic plan for the supplier quality organization

Qualification of processes and quality systems during new part development, change of supplier etc.

Champion early supplier engagement, supplier quality and capacity improvements

Ensure supplier quality partners with sourcing, commodity management and engineering to participate in the supplier selection process and makes recommendations for approved/preferred suppliers

Ensure regular process audits are being performed at supplier to validate supplier quality systems are in place and are capable of delivering material free of defects

Implement APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) with key suppliers

Supply part approval during the evolution process through PPAP (production part approval process)

Implementation of supplier PFMEA’s (process failure modes effects analysis), quality assurance plans and controls
-
Drive data driven RCCA on supplier caused quality issues
-
Set analysis expectations with suppliers for issues reported and implement regular cadence with suppliers to review KPIs

Develop material and process robustness plan based on critical parts

Develop and implement supplier tooling KPI’s

Collaborate with engineering and suppliers to ensure on-time development and start-up of of new molds/tools and parts manufacturing processes

Champion the design for manufacturing meetings and ensure optimization of tooling proposed by suppliers

Ensure the tooling team is actively participating in FOT (first of tool activities) at suppliers to approve of tooling and address issues real time
-
Ensure the tooling team is analyzing the design/development/manufacturability of new injection molded, die cast, sheet metals and elastomer parts

Champion part design reviews to ensure to identify feasible features and mitigate tooling related design issues made by mechanical designer

Partner with commodity manager and develop tooling strategy and develop cost savings goals for the tooling team

Ensure the tooling team is driving RCCA for tooling related issues

Actively participate in sourcing board for tooling related suppliers

Ensure tooling plans are developed and executed inclusive of buy off with tooling suppliers

Ensure technical capability audits are being performed when qualifying new tooling suppliers
-
Ensure new, transfer, second source tooling review as well as buy off and qualification are being conducted for tooling

Lead, mentor and develop supplier quality team & tooling team
Preferred Qualified Skills:
-
Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (Black Belt preferred)
-
Solid knowledge and working of quality systems and KPI’s
-
Excellent problem solving skills including 8D
-
Strong quality knowledge of PPAP (production part approval process), APQP (advanced product quality planning), DOE (design of experiments), FMEA (failure modes effects analysis), SPC (statistical process control) and Gage R&R
-
Ability to travel up to 20%
Target Base Salary Range: $120,300 - $240,600
