Lead and manage strategic sourcing categories, negotiate contracts, optimize supplier relationships, and train team members while ensuring cost efficiency.
Primary Responsibility :
Improve Americold’s competitive advantage by leading and managing assigned spend categories and preferred supplier relationships through building partnerships with the Strategic Sourcing team and all other Americold business functions. This will include conducting opportunity assessments, executing turnkey Sourcing projects, negotiating contracts, managing spend categories and reporting metrics through all levels of the organization. Show leadership abilities with a collaborative approach to build processes, tools and relationships through all levels of the organization.
What You’ll Do :
• Develop business plans for managing strategic categories spend, growth and optimal pricing
• Own responsibility on specific groups or operational areas such as construction, IT, HR or others
• Supervise and coach other Strategic Sourcing team members on strategies development and growth
• Participate and lead complex negotiations and large spend deals including modelling alternatives
• Analyze current spend categories, identify savings opportunities, and execute plans to achieve cost reductions
• Support Americold international operations from the Strategic Sourcing perspective as needed. This might include training, contract negotiations, supplier panel management, etc.
• Develop and manage vendor relationships while optimizing supply base
• Support Americold’s business units for ad hoc business necessities to implement and maintain profitable and effective sourcing programs
• Create, develop, and deliver specific Sourcing training materials
• Educate, train and enforce sourcing and procurement processes and policies
• Own and drive Strategic Sourcing Integrations for newly acquired facilities
• Report sourcing and category management metrics and scorecards
• Evaluate vendor performance for profitability and establish service level standards (SLA)
• Ensure integrity of SAP material and vendor master data for managed categories
• Expand Americold industry knowledge
• Stay well-informed with latest developments with respect to the assigned categories and trends in general procurement
• Incorporate best practices and kaizens into Americold’s business
• Provide support for the Strategic Sourcing Director
• Perform other duties as required
What Experience and Education You Need :
• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of business-related work experience.
• Subject-matter expert in relative industries such as distribution, retail, warehousing, supply chain or logistics preferred
• Category experience in MHE or indirect supplies and services preferred
• Experience in advanced vendor negotiations
• General knowledge or experience with E-Procurement systems knowledge required (such as Ariba, GEP, etc).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with intermediate to advanced skill level in Excel & PowerPoint.
• Certifications such as PMP or Supply Management certification preferred (ISM, CIPS)
• Ability to travel on average 10% or less
