What's the role?

HERE is looking for an experienced lawyer to join our legal team in Mexico. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will conduct contract negotiations, product reviews, and solution-oriented legal guidance for work partners located in the Americas. You will be a member of the AMER Legal Team, reporting to a senior counsel (located in USA), as well as a member of the broader Global Legal Team, which is comprised of highly qualified and experienced lawyers located around the world. This is a fully remote role based in Mexico.

Main Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate various commercial contracts for parties located in the United States. Canada, and Latin America (including vendor agreements, services agreements, data acquisition agreements, and software licenses).
  • Provide clear and actionable guidance on contracting concerns, legal risks, and product development.
  • Conduct technical product reviews, including regulatory and intellectual property aspects.
  • Provide support for other legal projects, presentations, and training.
  • Communicate via email and phone with a variety of internal stakeholders and external counsel.



Who are you?

Qualifications and Experience.

  •  A minimum of 8 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house, preferably at a technology and/or IP focused company.

    • Strong contract negotiation skills with expertise in technology and software/data licensing.
    • Experience with open-source software/open data a plus.
    • Ability to explain contract risks and obligations to non-lawyers.
    • Ability to manage simultaneous contract negotiations within changing deadlines.
    • Ability to learn fast, work well independently, and collaborate well with colleagues.
    • Experience managing external counsel.
  • LLB, or equivalent qualification and strong academic credentials from an accredited law school in Mexico or abroad
  • Some flexibility in work hours to accommodate global time zones
  • Willing to travel as and when required (infrequent).
  • Fluent in verbal and written English and Spanish
