About the Role:
CrowdStrike’s Intelligence Analysis Cell (IAC), a team within CrowdStrike Counter Adversary Operations (CAO), is seeking to hire a Senior Intelligence Analyst with high expertise in China and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
The role specializes in conducting both investigative and contextual analysis related to cybersecurity threats posed by state-affiliated actors and hacktivists. This position is instrumental in providing answers to complex questions—such as “who” is behind the adversary and “why” the adversary behaves in a certain manner—through finished intelligence reports that are disseminated to CrowdStrike’s customers and stakeholders.
To support our mission, you will conduct Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) investigations that uncover the organizations, individuals, and policies that enable threat actors, providing insights into the behavior and motivations. You will also connect cyber activities to real-world events by examining how political, economic, and other factors influence or are influenced by adversarial operations.
What You'll Do:
Conduct OSINT investigations into enabling entities that back state-sponsored and hacktivist adversaries
Identify and track national and transnational developments that impact or are impacted by state-sponsored and hacktivist adversaries
Compose short- and long-form finished intelligence reports
Respond to customer requests for information (RFIs)
Contribute to briefings where necessary
Collaborate with other analysts, technical experts, and customer-facing personnel
Strategize research prioritization efforts and intelligence gap identification
What You'll Need:
Required:
The ability to read Mandarin Chinese with high proficiency and leverage them in open-source research
A strong understanding of Chinese government bureaucracies pertinent to understanding the country's disposition towards the use of cyber operations; knowledge of the country's military, intelligence, and public security organizations is particularly useful
In-depth knowledge of Chinese and other regional states' foreign and domestic policies necessary to appropriately contextualize their behavior
A general understanding of Chinese and other Asia-Pacific cyber adversaries, including their major characteristics and relationships to government entities
Excellent English writing and an ability to effectively explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences
The ability to apply analytic best practices such as structured analysis, awareness of pitfalls, and critical thinking in source evaluation
The ability to work collaboratively in a fully remote working environment
Excellent time management skills and a high level of self accountability
Preferred:
Professional competency in additional languages beyond Mandarin Chinese including but not limited to Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, or Bahasa Indonesia.
Experience producing intelligence reports and handling ad-hoc requests for information (RFIs)
Undergraduate degree in cybersecurity, intelligence studies, security studies, criminal justice, political science, international relations; or equivalent military training and experience in a cyber intelligence/security MOS
Graduate or professional degrees in any of the aforementioned fields
Experience contributing to Computer Network Operations (CNO) campaign tracking, including working with technical indicators pertaining to malware and network infrastructure
