Optiv + ClearShark is looking for a Principal. Federal Compliance Consultant to join the Federal Advisory team. This position is focused on working with both federal and commercial clients in the area of cybersecurity compliance. Duties will include leading advisory engagements, assisting in the development and maintenance of advisory services, being a thought leader, and assisting Optiv + ClearShark sales activities.

How you'll make an impact:

Engagement Delivery

  • Lead federal compliance related engagements with Clients to support the improvement of their business.
  • Conduct engagements in accordance with the scope of work and consistent with the Optiv + ClearShark standard procedures.
  • Lead a team of junior consultants on larger engagements and guide/mentor those consultants through the engagement.
  • Lead discussion with clients to understand their requirements, system architecture, policies and procedures, and current compliance posture.
  • Lead discussions with clients to assist them in developing their federal compliance strategy and roadmap.
  • Conduct assessments to determine a client’s compliance posture and develop remediation recommendations suitable for the client.
  • Resolve any engagement issues at the lowest level possible, and to escalate issues as necessary to ensure that engagement is successful for the client and Optiv + ClearShark.
  • Produce high quality deliverables which are responsive to the client’s needs
  • Review junior consultants' products prior to delivery for quality, and to work with the junior consultants to improve the quality of their deliverables.

Engagement Management

  • Plan out engagement activities to ensure that the scope of work is achievable with the available resources and schedule, with an acceptable level of risk.
  • Monitor and report of the engagement status, and address any issues at the lowest level possible.
  • Escalate issues in a timely manner to reduce the impact to the client and to Optiv + ClearShark.
  • Submit timecards and expense reports in accordance with standard procedures, and as required, review and approve the timecards of junior consultants.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of each engagement, and to work with leadership on improving service delivery.

Sales and Client Engagement

  • Develop a maintain strong relationships with both sales and clients.
  • Lead pre-sales discussions with both sales and clients.
  • Conduct sales enablement training as necessary to ensure that sales understand the services that are offered, and are able to effectively sell the offerings.
  • Listen to both sales and clients for ideas or requirements which should be considered by Optiv + ClearShark to either update an existing service or to bring a new service to market.

Talent Development

  • Maintain relevant certifications and training.
  • Proactively seek new relevant certifications and training.
  • Act as a mentor to junior consultants and assist in training them, or to identify training opportunities to improve their capabilities.
  • Strategy, Brand Leadership, and Operations.
  • Contribute to thought leadership exercises about Optiv + ClearShark’s services portfolio, to include but not limited to: blog posts, social media engagement, workshops, and panels.
  • Maintain awareness of the changes to federal compliance requirements and support the development of new offerings, or updating of existing offerings in response to the changing requirements.
  • Help refine the Optiv + ClearShark standard operating procedures to assist in optimizing client engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for:

  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area required.
  • 7-10 years of related work experience required.
  • Solid understanding of identity management, incident response, networking security, and zero trust required.
  • Robust understanding of cybersecurity, and infrastructure concepts.
  • Experience operating in classified environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of governance and compliance, specifically with FAR, DFARs, RMF, FCI, CUI and CMMC.
  • Broad understanding of FedRAMP and IL constructs.
  • Experience in developing and implementing complex Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) programs.
  • Experience in operating under highly compliance driven program subject to third-party audit.
  • Experience conducting cybersecurity assessments highly desirable.
  • CISA, CISSP, CMMC RP/RPA/CCA/CCP highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of leadership concepts and ideas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience leading an engineering or consulting team, preferably having handled tasking, resolving personnel issues, and providing actionable feedback.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel to meet client needs up to 25%.

Salary Range Description

$169,300.00 - $232,200.00 Annual

The Hiring Range provided for this role is informed by (but not limited to) various factors including responsibilities of the position, work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, geography, as well as other market influences when extending an offer. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for these factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a variable incentive-based bonus plan. Optiv offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, of which salary is a component.
