Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain architectural roadmaps that align with business objectives.
- Analyze and evaluate complex data and system interactions to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Design observability solutions that provide insights into system performance and user experience.
- Mentor and guide junior architects and technical teams in best practices for observability and system design.
Splunk Platform Leadership:
- Architect, configure, and optimize the Splunk environment (Splunk Enterprise/Cloud, Forwarders, Indexers, Search Heads, potentially ITSI, ES).
- Design and implement efficient data onboarding strategies, parsing logic (props.conf, transforms.conf), and index-time/search-time field extractions.
- Develop advanced SPL queries, dashboards, reports, and alerts to provide actionable insights into system health and performance.
- Oversee Splunk administration tasks, including performance tuning, capacity planning, license management, and upgrades.
- Guide teams on effective Splunk usage and data modeling.
Dynatrace Platform Leadership:
- Architect, deploy, and manage the Dynatrace platform (SaaS/Managed), including OneAgent deployment strategies across diverse environments (Cloud, On-prem, Kubernetes, PaaS).
- Configure and optimize Dynatrace APM, infrastructure monitoring, RUM, synthetic monitoring, log monitoring, and Davis AI capabilities.
- Develop custom dashboards, alerting profiles, management zones, and automation workflows within Dynatrace.
- Leverage Dynatrace APIs for integration with other systems (e.g., CMDB, CI/CD pipelines, incident management).
- Train and guide teams on utilizing Dynatrace for performance analysis, root cause determination, and application health monitoring.
Business Observability:
- Drive the adoption of observability practices that enable business stakeholders to gain insights into application performance, user experience, and business metrics.
- Work closely with product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to identify and implement observability requirements for business-critical applications and processes.
- Develop observability dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide visibility into key business metrics and performance indicators.
Observability Tooling and Integration:
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk, OpenTelemetry) across the enterprise.
- Ensure seamless integration of observability tools with existing monitoring, logging, and tracing infrastructure.
- Collaborate with platform engineering teams to automate the deployment and configuration of observability tools using infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration management practices.
Observability Governance and Compliance:
- Establish governance processes and frameworks to ensure adherence to observability standards across teams and projects.
- Conduct regular observability audits and assessments to identify gaps, areas for improvement, and opportunities for optimization.
- Ensure observability practices align with relevant industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Observability Automation and Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for automating observability processes, such as instrumentation, deployment, and configuration management.
- Collaborate with development teams to introduce observability code reviews and automated validation checks in the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Continuously evaluate and improve observability practices, tools, and processes based on feedback, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
AI Integration and Innovation:
- Leverage AI and machine learning techniques to enhance observability capabilities, such as anomaly detection, predictive analytics, and automated root cause analysis.
- Evaluate and integrate AI-driven observability tools and platforms to improve system monitoring and incident response.
- Collaborate with data science teams to develop and implement AI models that provide deeper insights into system performance and user behavior.
