About the team

Terraform Authorship is a group of teams that maintains the Core of Terraform (Community Edition) and drives both community and commercial value. Our mission is to keep Terraform at the forefront of the Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) space by driving industry-leading innovations that improve workflows for our customers and global community. We strive to make Terraform the best tool for managing infrastructure, and HCP Terraform the best product for realizing the full value of Terraform.

Terraform has redefined how infrastructure is provisioned and managed, but infrastructure management doesn’t stop at deployment. Terraform is seeking to expand beyond traditional provisioning workflows into Day 2 Operations, enabling customers to manage the full lifecycle of infrastructure resources.

This role will be part of a new fullstack team working on HCP Terraform. In this role, you will enable new workflows, build innovative infrastructure management experiences, and shape how Terraform evolves into a comprehensive operations tool. You may be asked to contribute code across the full stack of our Ruby on Rails application, but you will be primarily working on the Ember front end and be the team’s front end expert.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Develop and maintain application code on HCP Terraform, primarily the front end written in Ember
  • Contribute to architectural decision-making through the RFC process
  • Investigate problems, performance bottlenecks, and customer escalations
  • Enable your teammates through technical mentorship, code reviews, and pairing
  • Work with stakeholders to determine and prioritize new features and enhancements
  • Interface directly with internal teams, users, and HashiCorp customers
  • Innovate and evolve our frontend tooling and ecosystem to make the experience of writing high quality code at HashiCorp as effortless and enjoyable as possible
  • Be a part of a distributed team (we’re in NA and Europe)
  • Support the applications you build by being a part of an on-call rotation

What you’ll need (basic qualifications)

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with a modern front end framework such as React or Ember
  • Familiarity with modern browser development (Javascript/ES7, HTML, CSS)
  • Familiar with web accessibility guidelines, accessibility tools, and assistive technologies
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • A growth mindset

What’s nice to have (preferred qualifications):

  • Experience with Terraform and/or Ansible
