eHealth connects people with quality, affordable health insurance through a proprietary marketplace offering Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, Medicare Part D, individual, family, employer, and ancillary plans from 200 health insurance carriers nationwide.
We are seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Sr. Director of Strategic Partnerships to drive revenue and membership growth through high-impact partnerships for Medicare, Employer and Individual health insurance products. Reporting to the VP, Strategic Partnerships & Operations, this individual will be responsible for identifying, negotiating, and managing partnerships with organizations adjacent to the health insurance space (e.g., healthcare services, wellness platforms, financial services, benefits aggregators). The ideal candidate has a strong sales or revenue quota background and a strategic mindset, with experience leading a medium-sized team, selling value-based co-marketing solutions such as direct mail, email and website display to acquire new members and collaborating across various departments to maximize partner success.
The Sr. Director, Business Development & Strategic Partner Marketing and can be based anywhere in the US. The role’s compensation includes a combination of base salary and commission on new and retained business.
What you’ll do:
- Revenue Ownership: Own and meet/exceed a defined revenue or membership acquisition quota through partner-driven channels.
- Partnership Strategy: Identify, prioritize, and cultivate high ROI strategic relationships with businesses and organizations in the Pharmacy, Provider, Financial and/or Senior Lifestyle & Content verticals, that align with our member profile and growth goals.
- Pipeline Development: Build and maintain a strategic roadmap of prospective industries and partners, creating data-driven decision matrix to drive prioritization.
- Deal Structuring & Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations, defining partner value propositions, performance terms, and marketing commitments.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop KPIs and ROI methodology to guide deal reviews, cross-organization resource prioritization and regularly report on partnership performance and pipeline health.
- Campaign Reporting: Measure and analyze the success of partner programs and campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Business Development Support: Guide development of sales enablement: prospect outreach, pitch deck, case studies, deal templates, downloadable marketing assets, etc.
- Consumer Experience: Develop value-based selling solutions and customer journey maps, tailored to each partner’s growth agenda highlighting joint partner and eHealth growth opportunities.
- Marketing Oversight: Oversee the creation and execution of co-branded marketing outreach strategies (direct mail, email, display ads, content syndication) to drive leads through partner tactics; ensure alignment with acquisition goals, compliance standards and brand guidelines.
- Operational Execution: Develop a deep understanding of eHealth’s technology and services so that you can influence ecommerce and marketing innovation that drives growth for eHealth and our partners.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of business development and account management professionals.
- Market Intelligence: Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, competitive positioning, and opportunities for growth within adjacent markets.
- Cross Functional Alignment: Collaborate with sales, product, engineering and retention teams to ensure alignment and maximize the impact of partnership initiatives.
- Forecast & Budget: Manage the forecast and budget for partner marketing and business development activities, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Leadership Alignment: Report out to executive management on initiative and strategy progress and financial result.
Who you are:
- 15+ years of experience in partner marketing, business development, or a related role, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
- Proven track record of delivering revenue or member acquisition through strategic partners.
- Experience executing joint marketing campaigns, with strong knowledge of direct mail, email marketing, and digital advertising.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience in market development, identifying short and long-term industry and partner growth opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to create and sell partner marketing tactics and strategies based on understanding partner and consumer motivation, pain points and journeys.
- Data-driven approach to develop and manage prospect pipeline, marketing tactics, resource allocation and ability to deliver high ROI, on time and on budget.
- Experience operating with a sales quota or commission-based model.
- Proficient in creating and presenting sales decks and clear communications articulating eHealth’s value proposition to influence C-suite partners.
- Ability to travel extensively.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement (Medigap), Part D, Employer and individual health plans.
- Experience partnering with Medicare and insurance related services, senior care providers, financial planners, or social services orgs.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements in healthcare marketing.

The base pay range reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors including individual skills, experience, performance, qualifications, the department budget, and the location where work is performed. Base pay is one component of eHealth’s total rewards package, which also includes a monthly commission-based incentive plan, plus an array of benefits designed to support employees’ personal and professional wellness.
