Provide DevOps support for Java/Springboot applications, automate deployment processes, troubleshoot issues, and manage monitoring and alerts for site reliability.
TITLE: Sr DevOps Engineer
LOCATION: Charlotte, NC
JOB SUMMARY: Provide DevOps support for multi-tier enterprise Java/Springboot applications used by Charter customer care agents, which include applications with multiple web services which integrate to back-end billing systems, telemetry systems, provisioning systems. Prepare applications for deployments, in accordance with release managements. Work with development team, prepare deployment artifacts and method of procedure documents, deploy the artifacts. During the release, and post release, analyze log files, debug and troubleshoot deployment issues produced by middleware to correlate errors in deployments, remediate the errors and ensure a successful release. Automate deployment methods using scripting tools including automation technologies such as Ansible. Design and implement automation deployment scripts using Ansible or similar scripting tool to automate deployment workflows and other system workflows. Implement reusable solutions for use across multiple applications for release deployment automation purposes. Work with hardware and software support teams to provide advanced troubleshooting techniques during P1 and P2 issues. Understand the downstream systems that the hardware and software platforms interact with to ensure software enhancements implemented by supported applications and downstream teams will not have negative impacts when released to production. Document custom-built automated solutions. Assist Tier 2 support in creating operational alerts, monitoring alerts for system utilization and purposes. Develop and implement business continuity, alerting, and monitoring best practices for the supported applications. Provide on-call support and proactively monitor alerts and react accordingly to ensure site reliability. Participate in capacity planning with other internal development teams to capture capacity requirements and provide capacity plans to avoid issues that will impact the business.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or related field. 5 years of experience with Linux/Unix commands and writing automated scripts for enterprise-level Java application deployment. 3 years of experience supporting Java n-tier applications, including production issue triage. 3 years of experience working with Rest API web services protocols to understand integration into Java/Springboot technology and with downstream enterprise services. 2 years of experience creating and running automated scripts in Ansible or Python playbooks for deployment automation. 1 year of experience building container scripts and deploying and monitoring containers.
