Job Title: Associate Director – Sr. Developer

Location: Charlotte, NC
Business Unit: GTD – Private Markets

Job Summary

As a key member of the Private Markets Systems team, this role is designed for a high-energy, business-focused developer who thrives on solving complex problems and building strong partnerships across the organization. You will lead initiatives that enhance proprietary and third-party applications, drive data automation, and deliver insights that support firm-wide decision-making.

You’ll work directly with business stakeholders—from investment professionals to data managers—to understand their needs, translate them into scalable solutions, and ensure delivery through hands-on development and strategic oversight. Your curiosity and drive to learn the business will be essential as you embed yourself in the investment lifecycle and contribute to the evolution of our data ecosystem.

Current Focus Areas

  • Business Insight Enablement: Supporting the firm’s reporting ecosystem ensuring timely and accurate data delivery, including coordination with MassMutual and other stakeholders.
  • Data Automation & Extracts: Leading enhancements to internal reporting platforms and tools, including creation of new data loaders and extract formats.
  • Application Ownership & Governance: Collaborating with IT Service Management and business teams to align ownership of private market applications and ensure proper change control.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Partnering with teams across Front, Middle, and Back-office personnel, to streamline reporting and system integration efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic partner to business teams, translating investment and operational needs into technical solutions.
  • Lead development and enhancement of internal and third-party applications using .NET, SQL Server / Databricks, and Power BI.
  • Drive data automation and reporting initiatives, including extract creation and delivery.
  • Provide rotational onsite support to business users until close of business.
  • Collaborate on hiring and onboarding efforts, including interview coordination and feedback for new developer candidates.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills and a passion for learning the business.
  • Hands-on experience with T-SQL, stored procedures, and Microsoft BI tools.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with urgency.
  • Experience in Private Assets, or financial services is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
