About the role
We are looking for an experienced Sr data scientist to be the first hire for our centralized data science team. As a data scientist, you will be hands-on in addition to partnering with the Director of Data Analytics to guide the direction of this new R&D team. You will be the subject matter expert on predictive and prescriptive analytics. You will partner with data engineering to build production-level machine learning and statistical models and provide statistical mentorship to the larger analytics department.
What you’ll achieve
- Develop machine learning and statistical models that power our centralized intelligence platform
- Prototype, automate, and productionalize analysis frameworks that improve the capabilities and efficiency of the larger analytics department
- Partner with game studios and data analysts to generate enhanced customer insights
- Leverage your connections in the larger data science community to ensure Fortis is at the forefront of data science in gaming
- Apply best practices in MLOps to ensure reliability and scalability of our systems as our gaming portfolio grows
- Mentor the larger analytics department on statistical techniques
What you’ll need to be successful
- Proficient in supervised learning (i.e., regression, random forest), unsupervised learning (i.e., clustering, dimensionality reduction, anomaly detection), reinforcement learning (i.e., multi-armed bandits), and causal inference
- Extensive experience in driving customer insights, preferably for mobile apps
- Prior experience in gaming analytics, preferably mobile free-to-play
- Deep experience in building experimentation frameworks (Bayesian and Frequentist)
- Expert in SQL, Python, R or equivalent programming languages
- Ability to thrive in dynamic, 0-1, startup environments
- Excellent communicator who can partner with highly technical stakeholders as well as explain highly technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- A generalist mindset who enjoys tackling problems across the data science domain
