The Data Analyst works as part of a deadline-oriented, fast-paced team consisting of consulting and operations staff that works together to provide superior service to states and large school districts in the areas of special education management systems, data warehousing, federal claiming, and other programs. This role is responsible for executing data migration and integration tasks, validating data quality, and supporting the implementation of data systems. The analyst will work independently to review, format, import/export, transform, validate, and model data to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Overall Responsibilities:   

The Data Analyst works as part of a deadline-oriented, fast-paced team consisting of consulting and operations staff that works together to provide superior service to states and large school districts in the areas of special education management systems, data warehousing, federal claiming, and other programs. This role is responsible for executing data migration and integration tasks, validating data quality, and supporting the implementation of data systems. The analyst will work independently to review, format, import/export, transform, validate, and model data to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Position Requirements:

  • Data Migration & Integration. The Data Analyst must have demonstrated experience performing complex data migrations and integrations across multiple systems and formats, including flat files, databases, and APIs. This includes validating data accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring seamless data flow between systems.
  • Data Analysis. The Data Analyst will profile data sets, identify patterns or anomalies, map data to internal schemas, document validation and transformation rules, and design and execute import, transformation, and export processes.
  • Data Engineering. This role requires an understanding of programming logic. The Data Analyst will write scripts, queries, formulas, and procedures using tools such as MS Access or similar to automate ETL processes.
  • Documentation. The Data Analyst will ensure that all data projects have clearly documented scope, requirements, and validation criteria to support data engineering and quality assurance.
  • Communication Skills. The Data Analyst must communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, presenting findings and gathering requirements to ensure alignment and clarity.
  • Project Management. The Data Analyst will manage their own tasks and timelines, collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of data-related projects.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Executes and validates software implementation activities including data migration, data integration, and site preparation.  
  • Writes advanced SQL queries and performs complex data mining techniques to capture appropriate data.
  • Conducts data quality assurance and validation.
  • Reviews data analysis and prepares materials and agendas for client meetings.
  • Assists strategic customers in submitting electronic data and uploading the data into our systems.
  • Creates and maintains data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, etc. for reports and related functions
  • Manages and completes tasks to meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Writes advanced SQL queries and performs complex data mining techniques to capture appropriate data.
  • Produces reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to satisfy client requirements and support decision-making.
  • Presents and interprets results of data analysis to internal stakeholders.
  • Performs strategic client management including working with clients to resolve issues, provide support, and build relationships 
  • Automates business processes using tools such as Power Apps and Flows.
  • Performs business analysis to identify opportunities for business improvement.
  • Collaborates with IT teams regarding data governance and data warehouse requirements.
  • Engages technical team as it relates to emerging data structure and reporting needs, in close partnership with the project leads
  • Travels to and present at status update meetings to clients.

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and careful attention to detail, including the ability to analyze and organize data.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products: Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Expertise in creating/using scripts, macros, formulas, and other similar data wrangling skills and techniques
  • Excellent organizational, oral presentation and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience utilizing Visio, Asana, and JIRA
  • Previous experience utilizing Python, SQL or other data platforms   

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or prior data analysis experience 
  • 3+ years of K-12 experience or education-related environments
  • 5+ years data analyst experience

As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $77,500-$100,000. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.

Compensation:

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.  As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role below. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.
