About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Tax Compliance & Reporting to lead the strategy and execution of HighLevel’s global direct tax compliance and tax accounting functions. In this role, you will report to the Director of Tax and act as a strategic partner within the company’s Finance and Accounting organization. You will own the end-to-end direct tax lifecycle, overseeing all federal, state, and international compliance, while managing our annual and quarterly tax provision (ASC 740) processes. You will design and operationalize the internal controls, reporting playbooks, and tax technology strategies needed to ensure total accuracy and mitigate risk, while scaling seamlessly with our rapid global growth. This is a highly visible, high-impact role for a tax leader who loves navigating complex regulations, optimizing reporting timelines from the ground up, and acting as a strategic, cross-functional partner to the broader finance organization.

Who You Are:
You are an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly motivated tax professional with a deep mastery of ASC 740 and direct tax compliance, alongside the rigor required to operate in a rapidly growing global SaaS company. You are a true individual contributor, someone who thrives on owning the direct tax function—from high-level tax accounting strategy to detailed compliance execution.
You have a strong command of U.S. federal, state, and international tax regulations and a proven ability to manage outsourced compliance and provision partners to ensure total accuracy and timeliness. You’ve successfully built and scaled tax provision processes and are comfortable establishing controls from the ground up. You thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and are capable of managing complex, cross-functional projects independently while communicating complex tax accounting concepts to internal stakeholders seamlessly.

What You’ll Be Doing:
-Direct Tax Compliance: You will oversee and manage the end-to-end direct tax compliance process for all federal and state jurisdictions, and oversee the global compliance calendar for international corporate income tax returns. This involves closely managing external tax advisors, ensuring all filings are accurate, and handling all estimated payments and extensions.
-Tax Provision & Reporting (ASC 740): You will lead the preparation, review, and documentation of the company's annual and quarterly global tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740. This includes managing effective tax rate calculations, deferred tax assets/liabilities, valuation allowances, and uncertain tax positions.
-Risk Management & Audit Defense: You will proactively identify, analyze, and quantify areas of direct tax risk. You will manage and defend all federal, state, and international income tax audits, responding to notices and developing remediation strategies based on materiality.
-Process Improvement & Tax Technology: You will critically evaluate and optimize current tax provision and compliance processes. You'll lead the implementation of new tax technologies, automation tools, and streamlined workflows to reduce reporting timelines and improve accuracy.
-Cross-Functional Strategy: You will partner closely with the Tax Director and the broader finance, accounting, and legal teams to assist with tax structuring advice on international expansion, M&A activities, transfer pricing, and new business initiatives.

What You’ll Bring:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Experience/Education/Certifications Required-
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
-12+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, with a strong mix of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and industry experience.
-Extensive, hands-on experience preparing and reviewing global tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
-Deep expertise in U.S. federal, state, and international direct tax compliance principles.
-At least 2 years operating as a manager or senior manager for the direct tax or provision function in a global organization (SaaS/technology industry experience is a major plus).
-Experience managing the performance, deliverables, and budgets of external tax consultants and advisors.
-Exceptional project management skills, with a proven ability to lead complex initiatives between tax, finance, and operations teams.
-A proactive, "builder" mindset with a talent for creating, documenting, and scaling processes from the ground up.
-Active CPA license strongly preferred.

The salary range for this position is $142000 - $198500 annually.
