Job Posting TitleSr Cloud Financial Operations Analyst - Cloud Platform Team - RemoteJob DescriptionThe Senior Cloud Financial Operations Analyst (FinOps) will be a key member of the IT Cloud Platform team, driving cloud financial governance, cost optimization, and a culture of accountability for efficient cloud usage and spend. This role partners closely with Finance, Engineering, Architecture, and Procurement to deliver actionable insights, implement best practices, and ensure cloud spend aligns with business goals. While the Finance/FinOps team will lead formal financial forecasting and budgeting, this role will contribute demand forecasts, resource usage projections, and cost insights to support planning. The analyst will lead reporting, optimization, governance, and tooling initiatives across AWS, GCP, and other public cloud platforms, enabling teams with the data, tools, and training needed to make cost-conscious decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead cloud cost tracking, demand forecasting inputs, and optimization programs across multiple platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI).
- Analyze cost and usage data, identify savings opportunities, and partner with engineering teams for implementation.
- Establish and maintain governance processes for cost reviews, workload deployments, and migration planning.
- Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, chargeback/showback, and spend accountability processes; provide accurate demand forecasts and usage trends as inputs.
- Develop and maintain cloud cost dashboards, custom reports, and KPI tracking for IT, Finance, and business leadership.
- Administer and enhance cloud financial management tools; coordinate tool onboarding, tagging compliance, and automation initiatives.
- Engage with cloud provider account teams to incorporate best practices and address service/cost updates.
- Translate technical cost data into clear business impacts for diverse audiences, including executives.
- Train and educate engineers and stakeholders on cost management processes and FinOps principles.
- Partner with Procurement and Vendor Management to optimize contracts and leverage private pricing programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, computer science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of financial analysis or IT-related experience, including 2+ years in cloud cost management (AWS, GCP, Azure, or OCI).
- Strong analytical skills with experience using cloud billing tools (AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Billing, Azure Cost Management).
- Experience with cost allocation, tagging strategies, and demand forecasting in a matrixed organization.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
Additional Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of cloud economics, pricing models, and optimization techniques (e.g., Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, rightsizing).
- Experience with cloud financial management platforms (Apptio Cloudability, CloudZero, or similar).
- Strong communication skills; able to present complex technical and financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives and drive outcomes across cross-functional teams.
- Experience with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Quicksight) and advanced Excel skills.
- SQL proficiency for cost data analysis and automation.
- Demonstrated ability to influence culture change and implement governance in dynamic environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Cloud Practitioner, GCP Cloud Digital Leader, or FinOps Certified Practitioner.
- Leadership or people management experience.
- PBM, healthcare, insurance, or reinsurance industry experience.
