Sr. Cloud Engineer

We’re seeking a hands-on and highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to build, operate, and evolve AbsenceSoft’s AWS infrastructure. You’ll own Infrastructure as Code, release operations, incident response, and platform reliability while partnering with development teams to enable rapid, secure software delivery. This role requires deep AWS expertise, strong Terraform proficiency, and the ability to balance operational excellence with strategic platform improvements. You’ll also participate in on-call rotations, lead technical initiatives, and ensure our platform meets availability SLAs and security compliance requirements.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain Terraform modules and configurations across multiple AWS accounts.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to support application and infrastructure deployments.
• Manage ECS task definitions, container images, and deployment orchestration.
• Own VPN operations, AWS IAM permissions, and network infrastructure.
• Implement infrastructure automation to reduce manual work and improve reliability.
• Execute and coordinate production release operations, including validation and rollbacks.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response activities.
• Build and maintain monitoring dashboards and alerts for proactive system health management.
• Implement secure infrastructure aligned with AWS best practices and compliance standards.
• Conduct capacity planning and identify cost optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate with development teams, participate in architecture reviews, and mentor peers on best practices.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering roles.
• 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience in production environments.
• Strong Terraform expertise, including module development and CI/CD integration.
• Production experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins preferred).
• Experience with ECS (Kubernetes a plus).
• Strong Linux/Unix systems administration background.
• Experience in on-call rotations and incident response for production environments.
• Advanced knowledge of AWS services including EC2, ECS, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, GuardDuty, KMS, and S3.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Familiarity with observability tools (DataDog, SumoLogic, CloudWatch, PagerDuty).
• Proficiency with Git-based version control (GitHub/GitLab).
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Security Specialty) preferred.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Collaborative mindset with ability to mentor others and share knowledge.
• Knowledge of AI tools and concepts applied to cloud infrastructure automation.

• Compensation Transparency. Compensation range for this position is $126,723 - $158,404 annually, depending on experience and location.
