The primary purpose of the Sr Analyst, Data Management is to drive proactive data governance across the enterprise in managing metadata, data quality, stewardship, classification, and privacy. This role works independently to execute the roadmap set by the leadership team and ensure other team members are also executing against it. Additionally, this role collaborates with stakeholders, cross-functional business teams, and IT teams to provide current, timely, and usable data by partnering with stakeholders and implementing efficient and effective data management practices. Finally, the Sr Analyst, Data Management is responsible for developing and maintaining the data steward capability, data catalog, data dictionary, business glossary, and lineage.

What You Will Do
  • Develops, improves, and ensures compliance to data governance standards, policies, and procedures; continually reviews and recommends improvements to be more efficient or effective.
  • Participates in the data governance on-call process ensuring our data governance customers receive timely responses to inquiries and ensuring the data governance certification brand is trusted. Ensure action it identified and taken where issues, or potential issues, are discovered.
  • Supports the learning and discovery of data governance standards, processes, and technology by sharing best practices with others. Builds, maintains, and continuously improves data literacy training and communication materials by understanding industry trends, best practices, and technologies. Works to remove the need for institutional knowledge wherever possible with a cost-conscious mindset.
  • Contributes to and executes the roadmap for enterprise data governance, bringing strong subject matter expertise and working through ambiguity and conflicting priorities where necessary.
  • Collaborates closely with team members on the business and technology team on ongoing development of best practices surrounding data governance, data quality, and metadata to integrate practices successfully.
  • Develops data profiling processes, leading to data quality analysis, recommendations, and clean-up. Works towards an enterprise view of data quality.
  • Prepares and publishes data quality metrics to key stakeholders and data stewards to aid technical and business users in the understanding and remediation of data quality issues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree)
  • 4 years of experience in SQL, data management, or related area
  • Experience actively implementing data management in a large organizational context

Preferred Skills/Education
  • Data Governance experience with Amundsen or another data catalog, data lineage, data ingestion platforms, Kafka, Google Cloud Platform, Great Expectations or a data quality application, DSpace or another Business Glossary application, and data/product asset certification.
  • Persistent, enterprise thinker with strong soft skills and needing little supervision to deliver results.
  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
