Position Summary

We are seeking a Specialty Actuary to join our fast-growing E&S Actuarial Pricing team. This is a high-impact, senior individual contributor role designed for an experienced actuary who is ready to take on complex pricing challenges and provide data analytics to influence strategic decisions. You will play a key role in developing and modernizing pricing tools, generating strategic insights, and guiding product and portfolio decisions. This position offers an excellent opportunity to deepen technical expertise, broaden business influence, and contribute visibly to our pricing strategy across multiple lines of business.

Key Responsibilities

Pricing & Product Development

  • Perform advanced pricing analyses, develop actuarial models, and provide insights to support product launches, and portfolio reviews.

  • Support the pricing of individual large complex accounts and work closely with E&S underwriters.

  • Ensure the design, maintenance and use of pricing tools is consistent with actuarial approaches.

  • Prioritize and lead actuarial projects as business needed.

  • Collaborating with the underwriting team on new business opportunities.

  • Support the development of pricing tools across the E&S product lines.

  • Support portfolio management, data reporting and quote/binder negotiations.

  • Evaluate and refine pricing assumptions based on emerging loss trends, litigation climate, and competitive positioning.

  • Identify opportunities for model improvements and provide support to identify good risks with adequate pricing to achieve target rate of return.

  • Analyze both internal and external data sources to identify trends, assess risk, and uncover new product opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a trusted actuarial partner to Product, Underwriting, and Claims teams to shape strategies and ensure profitability targets are achieved.

  • Translate complex actuarial findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders.

  • Provide technical leadership in cross-functional initiatives, ensuring actuarial input is well-represented in broader business decisions.

Process & Model Development

  • Design, build, and document pricing models, tools, and processes to improve accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with developers and analysts to automate workflows and improve access to actuarial data.

  • Contribute to the enhancement of data infrastructure and visualization platforms (e.g., SQL, Power BI).

Portfolio Management & Risk Analysis

  • Analyze portfolio performance across geographies, industries, and segments to identify growth and remediation opportunities.

  • Support quarterly planning efforts, including loss ratio projections and reinsurance strategy.

  • Partner with Reserving and Finance to inform capital modeling and ensure alignment across functions.

Qualifications

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s or other advanced degree preferred.

  • ACAS required; FCAS preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of actuarial experience in P&C insurance, with a strong focus on pricing and/or technical modeling.

  • Demonstrated success in Commercial Lines (GL, Commercial Auto, and etc.) and/or E&S market environments.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in R, Python, @risk and SQL; expert in actuarial and statistical modeling techniques. Experienced with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

  • Strong understanding of rating structures, pricing methodologies, and insurance operations.

  • Strong technical pricing skills with knowledge of exposure-based pricing, experience modelling, catastrophe modelling and stochastic simulation techniques.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly explain complex actuarial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently while contributing to team initiatives.

  • Strategic thinker with a proactive attitude and comfort working in ambiguity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands and employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This position operates in an office environment and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment.

The current range for this position is

$139,874.00 - $250,377.40

This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses.  If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
