With a vibrant, collaborative culture, SmartCover© A Badger Meter Brand, is looking to hire a Solutions Consultant (Technical Field Support Specialist) serving our Florida customers. As a 2025 addition to the 120- year journey of Badger Meter to measure and manage the world’s most precious resource – water - SmartCover is a pioneering technology brand serving the water and wastewater industry. Driven by the mission to safeguard public health, protect the environment, and preserve the quality of life, SmartCover technology has supported essential infrastructure response teams across North America, preventing thousands of sewer spills and saving millions of dollars for wastewater utilities. SmartCover is based in the San Diego area with satellite offices across the United States.
Job Description
This position delivers technical and commercial support to existing water and wastewater utility accounts, aiming for high customer retention and opportunities for account growth. The Solutions Consultant will receive training to troubleshoot our hardware and software products to support customers both remotely and in person. Essential qualifications include a basic understanding of electrical theory and practical experience using a digital multimeter. The ideal candidate will also have previous experience in the water and wastewater industry.
This position is remote and based in Florida, requiring frequent travel throughout the state to meet customer needs as necessary.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Rapidly develop the necessary skills through company-provided training to support customer needs, troubleshoot their equipment, and become an onsite resource for our customer service team.
- Understand how each customer uses our products, seek to identify additional solutions that may be available, and recommend the necessary enhancements, upgrades, or additional products.
- Build and maintain confidence and trust with our customers.
- Assist the commercial team with business cases, proposals, presentations, and other activities essential for maintaining and growing accounts.
- Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Company Policies, Procedures and Code of Conduct
- Other duties assigned by management
Education and Experience:
- Demonstrated knowledge of motor controls, electrical controls, or related equipment and their components.
- Prior experience in the water and wastewater industry is preferred.
- Proven ability to build, nurture, and sustain relationships at all levels within a customer account.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with customers and internal team members.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the region for account development and to support existing customers.
- Physically flexible and mobile, with the ability to remove and replace a manhole cover, safely climb ladders, negotiate other terrain or obstacles, and provide basic mechanical field support.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, preferably Salesforce, Microsoft Office applications.
