Virta Health is on a mission to transform type 2 diabetes and weight-loss care. Current treatment approaches aren’t working—over half of US adults have either type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, and obesity rates are at an all-time high. Virta is changing this by helping people reverse their metabolic condition through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery reinvented from the ground up. We have raised over $350 million from top-tier investors, and partner with the largest health plans, employers, and government organizations to help their employees and members restore their health and take back their lives. Join us on our mission to reverse diabetes and obesity in one billion people.

The Solution Architect will serve as a consultative partner to our Sales team, helping prospective clients evaluate and design the best Virta solution for their population. This highly external-facing role bridges commercial strategy, product configuration, and implementation realities. You will bring deep understanding of how Virta’s “plumbing” works—from eligibility rules and care pathways to operational and contractual nuances—and use that knowledge to influence upstream deal design.

By mapping client needs to what Virta can operationalize today, you’ll help prospects make clear decisions, accelerate sales cycles, and reduce unnecessary customization requests. Just as importantly, you’ll build scalable frameworks to systematize how Virta approaches complex solution design, balancing the competing needs of Sales, Customer Success, and Operations in a fair and sustainable way.

Responsibilities

As a Solution Architect at Virta, you will:

  • Partner with Sales: Join complex deal cycles as the consultative expert, guiding prospects through configuration choices and tradeoffs.

  • Pull implementation upstream: Anticipate and address operational nuances (e.g., eligibility criteria, GLP-1 coverage decisions, network & benefits design, data integration pathways) earlier in the sales process.

  • Map client needs to operational reality: Help clients understand how their requirements align with Virta’s existing solution configurations, minimizing requests for net-new customization.

  • Influence with credibility: Persuasively explain Virta’s solution architecture to skeptical and sophisticated audiences, while simplifying concepts for broader stakeholders.

  • Systematize solution design: Develop repeatable frameworks, tools, and processes that scale how Virta handles solution design across deals.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with Product, Implementation, Customer Success, and Operations to fairly balance client, commercial, and internal priorities.

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will:

  • Become fluent in Virta’s solution architecture, operational processes, and implementation nuances.

  • Build trust and strong working relationships with Sales, Implementation, and Product colleagues.

  • Participate in active sales cycles, leading solution design conversations and surfacing operational considerations.

  • Identify recurring themes in deal design and begin shaping scalable frameworks to address them.

Must-Haves
  • 10+ years of professional experience, with 5+ years of specific experience in healthcare solution architecture, pre-sales support, implementation, solution consulting, or a related client-facing pre-sales role.

  • Strong systems thinking skills with a track record of building repeatable processes or frameworks.

  • Proven ability to map client requirements to what can realistically be operationalized, and to defend tradeoffs persuasively.

  • Comfort navigating ambiguous, high-stakes decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with ability to influence sophisticated external stakeholders and explain complexity clearly.

  • Demonstrated success working cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Implementation, Customer Success, and Operations teams.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Familiarity with PBM integration, GLP-1 prescribing strategies, or value-based contracting.

  • Experience with digital health, chronic disease management, or health plan operations.

  • Exposure to performance guarantees or outcomes-based contracting frameworks.

Values-driven culture

Virta’s company values drive our culture, so you’ll do well if:

  • You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equally.

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the same.

  • You prioritize positive impact over busy work.

  • You have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience.

  • You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information.

  • You are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogma.

  • You take risks and rapidly iterate.
