Caterpillar Switchgear, a key part of the Electric Power Division, is seeking a Software HMI Engineer to join its team in Alpharetta, Georgia. This role is responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and implementing software solutions for Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications used in generator control switchgear systems. What You Will Do
- Customize template HMI programs to align with project-specific PLC configurations.
- Update operator manuals to reflect the unique HMI screen layouts for each project.
- Configure industrial computers with required software and HMI project files.
- Provide technical support for HMI engineering across Production, Helpdesk, Field Service, and Aftermarket teams.
- Support and maintain various HMI platforms, including FactoryTalk, Vijeo, iFix, and GE.
- Participate in software testing activities, including test reviews, analysis, witnessing, and certification of HMI applications.
- Assist the Product Support team with troubleshooting field-deployed HMI systems and remote PC configurations.
- Develop custom reports using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in HMI technologies and network infrastructure.
What You Will Have

- Solid understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the HMI engineering field.
- Hands-on experience with HMI software platforms such as FactoryTalk, Vijeo, RSView, or equivalent.
- Preferred experience in scripting languages including VBScript and JavaScript.
- Ability to identify and report software connectivity and integration issues.
- Demonstrates proposed software changes in a controlled local environment for validation.
- Manages software migration processes and develops contingency plans within their area of responsibility.
- Performs analysis of local software architecture components and related products.
- Conducts testing of key features across the broader software infrastructure to ensure reliability and performance.
