ComboCurve is a industry leading cloud-based software solution for A&D, reservoir management, and forecasting in the energy sector. Our platform empowers professionals to evaluate assets, optimize workflows, and manage reserves efficiently, all in one integrated environment.
By streamlining data integration and enhancing collaboration, we help operators, engineers, and financial teams make informed decisions faster. Trusted by top energy companies, ComboCurve delivers real-time analytics and exceptional user support, with a world-class customer experience team that responds to inquiries in under 5 minutes.

We’re hiring a Software Engineer to join our product team. You’ll own backend features for the ComboCurve application end-to-end—working directly with our Product Manager to design, build, and ship the services and APIs that power our platform. This role is ideal for someone who loves writing clean, modern Python, thinks carefully about data modeling and system design, and wants real ownership over backend infrastructure that energy professionals depend on every day.

What You’ll Do

  • Own features end-to-end—from scoping and design through implementation and deployment—working as an independent unit alongside our Product Manager.
  • Engage in software and infrastructure system design discussions, contributing to architectural decisions that shape the ComboCurve platform.
  • Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Python and TypeScript that are reliable, well-tested, and straightforward to extend.
  • Work across relational and non-relational databases to model, query, and optimize data for product features.
  • Deploy and operate services on cloud platforms, leveraging GCP, AWS, or OCI infrastructure.
  • Incorporate AI-first development practices—using AI tooling to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and explore new product capabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineering peers through code reviews, technical documentation, and shared standards that raise the quality bar across the team.

Requirements

  • Backend Development Proficiency: Strong software development background in Python and/or TypeScript, with the ability to build robust, well-architected services and APIs.
  • AI-First Development: Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows, LLM integrations, or agent frameworks—comfortable leveraging AI tooling as part of everyday engineering.
  • Database Experience: Hands-on experience with both relational and non-relational databases, including SQL/PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB; ability to design schemas and write efficient queries for each.
  • Cloud Platform Experience: Experience deploying and operating services on one or more major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or OCI), including familiarity with serverless and managed infrastructure.
  • System Design: Ability to reason about software and infrastructure architecture, contribute meaningfully to design discussions, and make pragmatic tradeoffs between complexity and scalability.
  • Independent Ownership: Proven ability to drive work end-to-end with minimal hand-holding—comfortable taking ambiguous requirements and delivering working software.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills for working closely with a Product Manager and engineering peers; proactive in surfacing tradeoffs and aligning on direction early.
