Department Overview
Our teams develop mission critical software for handling emergency (911, 112) calls.
This platform connects our on-premise and cloud call handling solutions with our leading edge CommandCentral cloud products. The teams are responsible for end-to-end software development including: design, implementation, testing, delivery and maintenance. We work in well balanced agile teams with a full range of software development experience and the embedded mindset of DevOps culture and continuous delivery approach.
Job Description

As a Software Engineer on the Emergency Call Handling team in Brazil, you will contribute to extending capabilities of our mission critical platform and  enhancing the existing technologies we use.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C# code

  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications

  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems

  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation


Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math or related fields

  • Proficient in C# (.NET Core), with a good knowledge of its ecosystems

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming

  • Strong understanding of message queuing 

  • Strong understanding of asynchronous and multi-threaded applications

  • Understanding of concurrency patterns in C#

  • Skill for writing reusable C# libraries

  • Knack for writing clean, readable code

  • Familiarity with automated testing platforms and unit tests

  • Familiarity with design and architectural patterns

  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server and NoSQL databases

  • Familiarity with development pipelines and release-management tools

  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application is advantageous

  • Familiarity with Domain Driven Design and Event Sourcing would be advantageous

  • Working in a serverless architecture within the Azure Cloud is advantageous.

  • English language skills allowing for efficient communication with our peers and customers in North America

  • Participates not only as an individual contributor to the team, focused on daily activities and planning for the team. Engages themself in complex tasks. Works without close supervision from other members of the team. Impact on the team is strong and visible

Must have:

  • C# (.NET Core)

  • Azure Functions

  • SQL and NoSQL databases

  • Cloud experience with Azure

  • Experience with messaging systems

  • Experience with automated testing

  • Asynchronous communication

  • Experience with observability and monitoring

  • Experience with the following protocols: HTTP / REST

Could have:

  • Multi-threading applications

  • Design and architectural patterns

  • CI/CD

  • Design of scalable applications

  • Design of data-intensive applications
