As an iOS Platform Tech Lead at Nextdoor, you’ll join a small but mighty team of engineers dedicated to improving the iOS app infrastructure, streamlining developer processes, and maintaining stable and smooth app releases. As part of the Core Platform team, our mission is to create a delightful developer experience that empowers teams to build their features quickly and safely. We build paved roads so that product engineers can focus their efforts on building features that serve our neighbors and drive our business. We create infrastructure that makes the easy things work out of the box and the hard things possible. We build performance and scalability into the platform itself so that Nextdoor is safe and fast by default.

The Impact You’ll Make

Our platform teams have high autonomy and are empowered to identify opportunities, lead cross-team initiatives, and drive their own roadmaps. You will work on improving the developer experience through:

  • Guiding the technical direction of the team
  • Leading and supporting fellow iOS engineers
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide technical support and solutions
  • Building and maintaining infrastructure 
  • Improving code health and architecture
  • Optimizing day-to-day developer activities

We believe engineers should have a stake over all aspects of the product - from coming up with the next big ideas to build, through helping set expectations and plan roadmaps, all the way through understanding the impact of new features through rigorous data analysis. What You’ll Bring to The Team
  • 8+ Years of experience in a Mobile Development role
  • Advanced expertise in iOS development, Swift, and Xcode, including the build system
  • Experience with building complex, high-quality iOS applications, and strong knowledge of iOS app design principles, patterns, testing, and best practices
  • Experience in improving and maintaining code health and architecture of an iOS codebase
  • Experience leading and mentoring fellow engineers. Enthusiastic about up-leveling our engineering culture
  • Participate in in-person Nextdoor events such as trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and team-building exercises
  • Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to Nextdoor’s company culture
  • Eagerness to explore and apply AI and emerging technologies to reimagine how work gets done
Bonus Points
  • Experience managing build and automated release infrastructure. Proficiency with CI/CD platforms (Bitrise, CircleCI, or other)
  • Experience with the Combine and TCA frameworks
  • Experience writing automated tests for iOS applications
  • Github, GQL
  • Improving development processes and tools. Proficiency with scripting
Rewards

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create our total rewards package. Compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications. Compensation may also vary by geography.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $210,000 to $349,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially higher if your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the expected level for the role. 

We expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With quarterly vesting, your first vest date will take place within 3 months of your start date.
